Saatea is my favorite venue for our San Antonio Tea Enthusiasts meetup group. Here is a recap of a recent meetup there:
“Relaxing tea lounge meetup” segued into a satisfying “dinners for eight,” and I had a great time. We ordered many small pots of tea, and I managed to taste a white, a green, and two oolongs! Soon there were appetizers and we decided to move from the tea lounge into the restaurant. I loved the spring rolls, the crepes and the fried bananas. Too many yummies to remember them all! We were going to try the kambucha fermented tea, but we forgot. After dinner, co-owner Thinh Mai gave us a quick tour of the rooms under construction, which are slated to become a natural food store and yoga studio. He was very gracious and friendly toward us throughout the evening.
This venue fosters thoughtful conversation, humorous banter, and sincere sharing. The staff of the tea lounge & restaurant are very welcoming & attentive. The ambient musical sounds are lovely and appropriate to the Asian tea lounge environment. The food is good & the prices are reasonable. This is the first place I’ve been in San Antonio where pots of full leaf tea of all varieties are served at the table by people who really know and appreciate fine tea. The cultural & health benefits of good tea service in a suitable atmosphere are rare & invaluable, and Saatea provides them in a most pleasing manner. Many healthful foods are on the menu, including some vegan selections. Tea, appetizers, entrees & dessert — served in a style to promote enjoyment and wellbeing. Here, one can receive truly substantial nourishment for body, mind, and spirit!
