Used less leaf and a shorter steep this time. The aroma was less overpowering, but still a head-ache inducing smokiness reminiscent of swallowing a cigarette. No subtlety. This is a full-on assault to the face.

Not sure what to think of this. It’s definitely got character, but it’s a very brusque and affronting tea. Opens up slowly to a wide range of flavors, all around the same category as the first steeping, which is the least pleasant, but still somewhat tasty.

Pretty dull for a TGY, some bitterness I never worked my way around… maybe a longer rinse is in order. Also a very mineral taste. It’s interesting, but not exciting. Pleasant enough to keep drinking, but maybe not worth the price.

This was very disappointing. It had a very flat and mundane taste, with no character or personality. Will try again to see if I missed something, but I was very unimpressed.

drank Jasmine Pearl by Wegmans

Got this hoping it would be a cheaper way to satisfy a jasmine craving. It’s a bit bitter at first, though gives way to a smooth cup with a hint of astringency. It’s not very good, but does deliver a nice kick of jasmine. Don’t think I’ll buy again.

Held up really well to many infusions, though takes more leaf than I’m accustomed to. Not exceptional, especially not for a TGY, but it definitely holds its own.

Chocolately, pungent aroma, very thick and savory. Broken leaves mean only get a second steeping, but it makes for two very different mugs, both savory and tasty.

Heaven. Not too heavy on the Jasmine, so you can brew it strong. Perfectly subtle and demure white, just the way it should be. Significantly diminished aroma on resteepings, unfortunately, and the aroma that remains overpowers the especially subtle flavors that normally come out of a silver needle after the first cup. A bit pricey, though, I want to find a cheaper Jasmine.

drank Rooibos Earl Grey by Adagio Teas

Very orangey and citrusy, this is more like a citrus rooibos than a rooibos earl grey. Perfectly pleasant, but I won’t seek it out.

With a healthy pour of milk, this is an excellent nightcap. Good for when my focus is on something else and I’m not paying much attention to the tea.
