drank Swiss Vervaine Melange by Teavana

I like herbal teas but it is difficult to find ones that don’t have citrus (a migraine trigger) or chamomile (an allergen). Additionally, I’m not a huge fan of peppermint; I know, I’m picky, what can I say? This tea is a very nice, soothing and harmonious blend of mild and light tastes. Although the peppermint scent is prominent, it’s taste is (thankfully) very muted, hiding nicely underneath the ginger and the vervain. An excellent tea for the evening, either with or without a sweetener. I’ll definitely buy it again.

I forgot to mention: even though there is a bit of citrus in this one, the flavor doesn’t seem pronounced to my tastebuds, and no migraine so far, so that’s good!

This is probably the best Earl Grey tea I’ve ever had. It’s smooth and rich, with a lovely hint of vanilla. It tastes wonderful plain or with dairy (I used whole milk) and sugar.

I was given this tea as a gift (thank you Luthien! :) and it is now one of my favorites. It has a very smooth, mellow, and well-rounded taste without any acidic aftertaste. The scent is mild.

drank Spiced Chai by Novus Tea

My mother received a box of this tea as a gift and she passed it along to me. I love to make chai by hand so I was interested to see how well ‘chai in a bag’ would taste, esp. since I have been generally unimpressed by other companies’ chai tea bags (e.g. Stash). This tea was excellent, imo. Mellow and flavorful and a very good blend of spices in which the cinnamon was not overwhelming and the black tea not too acidic or bitter. I drank this tea with with cream (I generally do not use milk) and splenda, and I nuked the water in the microwave as I often do with bagged teas. I’ve tried a few variations of temperatures and steep times and found the tea to be very forgiving.

I don’t drink a great many green teas, however luthien convinced me to try a few new ones and to pay more careful attention to the brewing times and water temps. This tea in particular seems sensitive to time and temperature. The unsweetened flavor is very nice, mild and ’vegetal, and not acidic at all to my taste buds (which is one of my usual complaints about green teas). It smells lovely to my nose, a bit like dry cut grass.
