343 Tasting Notes
Apparently, I can go through a ridiculous amount of tea at the office (since they keep the AC mildly above freezing). The last remaining ounce of this was finished in a couple of weeks when I decided to bring some of my oolongs to work. Well, best decision I ever made since I rarely drink them at home, unless it’s the weekend. Is this a carbon copy of one of the larger distributers’ versions? Since I already have the tin, no need to really repurchase that method, right? If it’s a carbon copy of a cheaper blend, I’m all ears!
Sipdown!
Sipdown!
Finished up the last of my ounce yesterday evening. I can’t say I’d repurchase right away as I am trying to use up some of my other dessert-like evening blends, but it is really quite nice. Though, if you don’t like sweet herbal teas, than this probably isn’t for you!
So like the Chateau Blanc, this isn’t technically a sipdown since there’s the last of the “leaf” brewing, but unlike the Chateau Blanc, this was one I really enjoyed. Drinking rooibos really helps with my inflammation and stomach woes and it’s really a delicious iced drink, even unsweetened, a major plus in my book. I’m actually having a big 20oz tumbler of it now.
Just tart enough to be refreshing and just sweet enough to stand on its own without an additives. Wouldn’t repurchase right away since the minimum purchase is 4oz and I have quite a few teas at the moment that are perfect for drinking iced, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind for a future order (though instead, I may just buy the two components of this separately as there’s no cost benefit to buying the premixed blend).
Kind of can’t believe I have 2 Teavana sipdowns in one day!
There was a Teavana trip last year that I regret, because in one visit I bought 4oz each of two teas that I only managed to not hate. They were on sale and being discontinued and I was gullible and newly into tea (and also hadn’t yet come to terms with the whole – don’t buy more than 2oz if you have no idea how you feel about it). This one didn’t get much use because sweetened it tastes like grape juice and I don’t know many people that like hot grape juice. Unsweetened it just wasn’t anything special and there was still that grape tinge.
Well, I’ve managed to use up my tin two ways. I have been drinking it iced, which is pretty pleasant once you sweeten it (again, grape juice without sugar, yes please) and I added it to a traveling tea box. Maybe someone else will like it more than me. I drank through 32oz of it today iced happily and have another jug brewing in the fridge but I’m kind of over it, so it’s not technically a sip down, but the tin is officially out of my cupboard and that makes me happy.
The key with this one is to brew it hot (175 degree, steep for 2 minutes – use the hot steeping instructions, not the iced) and then immediately stick it in the fridge so it doesn’t get bitter. I left it in for 2 nights which resulted in me having to water it down to make it light and refreshing and not totally like juice, but it was definitely refreshing. I can’t say I’d buy 4oz again, but at least I managed to enjoy the last bit of it I had in stock.
And now to remove from my virtual cupboard!

This is actually really interesting. It basically tastes like the lime chiffon blend, except this is with black tea. Thankfully, Della Terra’s black tea base tends to be on the lighter side, so I mostly get the lime and cream with this one. I know it’s late and I’m drinking something with caffeine, but it’s the weekend! Ack, nevermind, something bitter is coming out as it cools.

Sigh – I should have known better. Why can’t all of 52teas be like their banana pudding? At least if that were the case, I wouldn’t be disappointed every time I bought or swapped for other blends.
Anyway, I’m getting mostly pecan with this and it’s the drying in your mouth kind. I added sweetener and nothing else is really popping for me. Maybe a little creaminess, but I don’t get cheesecake. Back in the box it goes.

I’ve been having such a hard time finding time to try things in this traveling tea box as I usually don’t get home till after 7pm (or later) and so many of the teas are caffeinated that I want to try! Argh!
Anyway, this was a really nice blend. There was just over a teaspoon remaining so I didn’t fill my mug all the way, but it seemed to work. It needed sweetener for some of the flavors to come out, but once they did it was a treat, since the tea itself was almost thick in a way. Very dessert like and a fine way to start my Saturday morning. Not sure I’d go out of my way to purchase though.

So, I recently discovered that I love cinnamon tea, but there was something slightly off about this one. I was getting an almost sour tangy taste around the sides of my mouth which I didn’t enjoy. Maybe that was the brief hint of orange? Regardless, there are other cinnamon teas I prefer.
Preparation
3 “perfect teaspoons” + just over 16oz of boiling water, set to steep for a good 20 minutes and then thrown in the fridge overnight
Like Tazo Passion, this is something I can drink a lot of quickly (also like Teavana’s Strawberry Lemonade). I didn’t realize I still had a 2oz bag leftover from my very first Teavana purchase ever, but I’m trying to not let tea sit for longer than a year and I bought this last May, so I’m not too bothered with drinking through it fast. I can easily drink this one without additional sweetener, even with the hibiscus (but then again, I like Passion so ymmv).
