First couple of infusions smell smoky and even a little burnt. This note does not dominate but it’s definitely present in the liquor as well.
Soft taste with some astringency.
Mineral taste that makes way for sweet aftertaste.
There is also a distinct sour note that I do not care for.
Fairly energizing tea.

If you can get past the smoky and sour note, good intro into sheng puerh but I’d recommend spending a few extra bucks for a cake and pick up the 2023 Veldt,

7g/110ml
10/5/5/5/10/15/30/45/60/120 = 10 steeps
There was room for another couple of long steeps but I felt it wasn’t worth it.
95°C for the first 5 steeps, boiling for the rest.

Notes of leather and stonefruit.
The fruitiness is more prevalent in the aftertaste.
Smooth mouthfeel, relaxed body feel.
Lots of activity going on in the liquor.
Its color shifts from a pale amber in the first few steeps to a rich, plummy gold in the later ones.

6g/100ml
10/5/5/5/10/15/30/45/60/120/240/480 = 12 steeps
95°C for the first 5 steeps, boiling for the rest.

Got this as a sample a while back when I made an order. Have to say, was not impressed.

Flavours were not really pronounced and were, quite honestly, dull.
No sweet notes and a relatively harsh mouthfeel for a shou puerh.

10g/180ml
5/5/10/15/30/45/60/120 = 8 steeps
Near-boiling for all steeps.

My go-to daily drinker.
Lighter profile than the 2022 version.
Fleeting sweetness, light huigan.
Fruity, flowery, lightly astringent, bitter if pushed.
Notes of strawberry and stonefruit.

Would score 65 but due to the affordability, bumped it up to 70.
