14 Tasting Notes
David’s Tea has discontinued Kanpe, which makes me sad because unlike most people who have reviewed it here, I don’t find it too tart or spicy. It was one of my favourite teas and while I still have some, I do not look forward to the day when I run out.
I’m pleasantly surprised by this tea. Dry, the aroma is so strong that it can be overwhelming, but once it’s steeped, it mellows out and tastes almost rich, but not cloyingly so. I don’t really like chamomile tea, and got this as a gift, so I was reluctant to try it, but quite happy with how it turned out. I don’t know if it’ll become a favourite, but on the first try, it’s not bad at all.
Flavors: Lemon Zest, Licorice, Orange Zest
There’s something missing in this tea and I can’t quite place it. Maybe there isn’t enough spice for my liking, or maybe I’ve had so many Chai Tea Lattes from Starbucks lately that my tastebuds are out of whack, but there you have it. This isn’t a bad tea, per se, it’s just not what I was looking for. I think I’ll try the Saigon Chai next time.
