Georgian tea

Yesterday evening message from them:
“dear martin thank you for your patience, we have all teas for now except Wild blueberry that we expect in 4-5 days, your tea is packed and ready, once we finish with all teas I’ll send it and confim full price and payment. best regards George.”

All teas are this year harvest. I even have got some photos how tea is being harvested, but I don’t know how to share them with you.
Also, it indeed seems there will be customs duty for green tea only with value 3.5 percent of price. Not sure about VAT, but I hope I will pay that in the price, thus in Georgia. A lots of paperwork awaits me, but I take it as a challenge. I will keep you informed.

I have a bad news regarding total price. As total value is higher than 150 EUR, it seems I have to pay the VAT which is for tea 21 (or 15?) percent. So, total price will be higher by this percentage, which is quite a lot in my opinion. I hope it is not a major problem for most of you, but I just found that out. The customs laws and taxation isn’t easy to understand here. When I will send it across the ocean, I will certainly declare it a gift and I will try to find out your country values for no added taxation / customs duty.

Martin, thank you for the disclosure. In my case, the vat is a minor consideration so that I can experience this exotic tea. No worries!

Please follow me back, so I can send you a draft of invoice. Thank you :)

Martin: following you!

Now we have package ready and it is ready to send. I should pay 370 USD, however I feel there is a mistake (with Wild Green tea), so I am trying to make it “real” based on my calculations — 853 GEL = 291 USD. Shipping from Georgia will be 40 USD.

I am now as well getting done the payment. I hope it will be possible with credit card (or PayPal); however they want to pay with Western Union. We will see how it develops. I will keep you informed, but I will start sending “invoices” to you right now (so far with tea costs, shipping from Georgia and shipping from Czech Republic) + VAT (possibly charged) and tax duty (for green and white tea).

Ugh, sorry guys it goes so slowly. But I have a major update.

Tea is paid today and they will send me tracking as soon as possible, after they receive the money." I did “basic” bank transfer, which is quite expensive indeed. But, it seems we are still in limit, we will see if there will be VAT, when it arives here. I will try to keep you updated as much as I can; but between 11th-17th I will be on vacation. But I assume it won’t be that quick.

Sorry guys it went so slowly. This week I am also on a vacation, but here I have a little proof that it was sent!

Let’s hope it will be quick, but one never knows.
I am off first week of August, so if it arrives near this time, I will re-pack it ASAP I am back home. Thank you for your patience. The guy was sick, so he could not do anything last two weeks :(

Woo-hoo!! I can practically taste the tea already :-)

The package was sent to destination country (Czech Republic). I was asked to fill up customs declaration, so I did my best (sent value is 150 USD, sent as a gift). We will see what will customs think.

UPDATE:
Today I have received an email that the VAT was set and it is 517 CZK.

But, you all have paid a little bit more (because I did not knew the percentage and such), and total difference between paid (by you) and real VAT is about 13 USD (313 CZK). Is there anyone who necessary needs their part back? I don’t want to be a thief, but it is in total so little difference.

I am also waiting if there will be some customs duty or not, no info about that yet.
