Our Featured Reblend for February!

Hello, Everybody!

Our Featured Reblend for February 2020 is:

Rocky Road Black Tea – This is a blend that was requested to be reblended shortly after it sold out back in 2017 (when it was first blended.) I couldn’t do it then – and I haven’t been able to do it since – because I didn’t have Laoshan black tea in stock until very recently. When I got it in, I put it on the calendar to reblend!

A blend of Laoshan, Assamica & Golden Yunnan black teas, Cacao nibs & shells, marshmallow root & VEGAN chocolate chips (dark & white chocolate!) – I omitted the sunflower seeds this time around because they didn’t work as well as I hoped they would. This is just yummy, chocolate-y, rich & creamy, with just enough sweet, nutty flavor to taste like one of my all-time favorite ice creams!

Tea of the Week for February 24 is:

Kiwi Mojito Green Tea – Wowza! My work for February produced a month of “favorites” for me – I absolutely LOVE all the flavors that I created for February. Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy all the teas that I craft = otherwise, they would not be on the website. I am not one of those salespeople who can sell ice to Minnesotans in the middle of winter & I feel I would fail miserably at trying to sell tea to someone if I didn’t absolutely love it. However, there are some teas that I craft that I enjoy more than others. February – I love all four of my new blends (not to mention the featured reblend that will be posted on the 10th) & it would be difficult for me to name a favorite of the four (five!) Every single one of them is just – amazingly good.

This one is one of those amazingly good teas. Organic Chinese Gunpowder blended with Kiwi, lime, spearmint & a touch of rum essence to create a kiwi tea unlike any other. The sweet kiwi notes are forward, with a touch of tart from the lime and a touch of cool, crisp flavor from the mint. The rum is subtle but adds a nice smoothness to the overall cuppa.

And that was a lot more than I planned to report here – you can read more about it on my blog: https://www.52teas.com/blog/tea-of-the-week-for-february-24-2020-kiwi-mojito-green-tea/

The tea of the week for February 17, 2020 is:

Golden Slumbers Herbal Tisane – Named after my favorite Beatles song, I crafted this herbal blend using all organic ingredients, including rooibos, chamomile, lavender, lemon myrtle, lemon balm, marshmallow root and lemon. It’s light and lemon-y, with a soft, creamy marshmallow-y note and a hint of lavender. Really quite lovely – a nice, relaxing beverage – perfect for bedtime!

The Tea of the Week for February 10, 2020 is:

Coconut Cake White Tea – If you happen to read my blog posts for teas, you will learn that this was not the tea I originally planned for the week of February 10 – but I wasn’t able to make the tea I had planned on because I didn’t have all the ingredients I needed for that blend – and my order for those ingredients was not going to arrive for several more days. Rather than postpone the blending of the tea (and put the release of the teas even further behind!) I decided to just create something else. And I’m really glad I did that – because this is AMAZING. If you like coconut tea, you really gotta try this one.

The tea of the week for February 3, 2020 is:

Strawberry Rose Black Tea:

I had hoped to post this by Valentine’s day, but I didn’t manage it (time is not a friend of mine!) but this is my ‘romantic’ offering this year – a blend of black teas (Yunnan Imperial & Rose Congou), blended with strawberries & rosebuds. The flavors here are so harmonious. It’s sweet without being cloying – the rose is nicely pronounced – as is the strawberry. So very lovely!

You can read more about this tea here: https://www.52teas.com/blog/tea-of-the-week-for-february-3-2020-strawberry-rose-black-tea/

Other Stuff -

By request, I have reblended our S & S blend from last year’s I Love The Pacific Northwest themed set of teas. For those who need a refresher: the S & S blend is a green tea & rooibos blend with strawberries & pears, black pepper, cream cheese essence & a touch of brandy essence. It’s so good! You can find it here: https://www.52teas.com/s-s-green-tea-green-rooibos-taster/

Over the next few days, I will be adding the remaining stock of the five new teas that I crafted for Amoda for their December box, so far, we have Eggnog Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha and Chocolate Orange Cannoli Black Tea on our website!

awesome – I look forward to hearing what you think. :)

Can’t wait! I promise not to spoiler the reblended tea.

Thanks – I’ll be putting that up soon – but first I want to give the subscribers and the members of the 52Teas club a crack at those teas before they’re one the website. (one of the benefits of subscribing is that you get to “pre-order” the featured reblend of the month before it’s added to the website where it may potentially sell out before you have a chance to order it.)

I don’t watch the show, but:

Goji berry is also called wolfberry. Osmanthus flower is a pretty yellow spangle of aroma, rather than just adding calendula for color. Gunpowder green is a very distinctive shape of leaf for high visual contrast. Yunnan leaves would be smoky(?) which would add depth.

I haven’t watched the show, but from rumors, you should have a brew that turns blood red? :D

Yeah, I think approaching it as concepts instead of flavours might be a good approach. Gives you a little bit more creative freedom as well. So something that steeps blood red with a name like “Red Wedding” might be fun.

I also did a quick Google Search for some canon food/drink mentions in the show, (I’ve only personally seen seasons 1-2) and here are two of the ones that jumped out to me as big enough references that would also translate to tea flavors though:

1. The Dire Wolf shaped loaf of bread that Hot Pie bakes for Arya (Could be like a sweet bread inspired blend – Dire Wolf Cinnamon Raisin Bread? Maybe?)

2. Lemon Cakes, which are apparently Sansa’s favourite food?

Also Lamprey Pie, which is a pie with fish, wine, and spices. Maybe skip the fish, and that could be a loosely interpreted tea version?

And you could always go the route of puns? So, like, a “Jon Snowcone” blend? Idk – just reaching for ideas XD

And nothing wrong with doing a wine inspired blend!

OMG, those are hilarious! I especially love: jon snow knows nothing….about tea, White tea Walkers, and Tyrions Tieguanyin.

I know absolutely nothing about GoT, and even I’ve watched the famous Jon Snow Knows Nothing About Tea video, heh.

I’m excited too! So far dragonglass sounds delightful.

Thanks! I love it. I love all of the teas for this month – but I do have a few that I consider ‘favorites’. I Drink & I Know Things surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. I really love Dragonglass too – oh! Who am I kidding, I loved them all. :)

Hey Anne! My Christmas tea suggestions for the poll:

Ginger Cola
Kumquat Cucumber Chutney
Drink (Don’t Eat!) Grapefruit Sugar Scrub
Crisp Cranberry Soda Green Rooibos
Banana Pudding Black Tea

52Teas said

Thanks! A couple of them won’t be on the poll – and I’d like to offer reasons why – so that you don’t think I ignored you! :)

Firebolt – is a bulky kind of tea – too bulky for the box. That doesn’t mean that I won’t reblend it around that time though as it would be a nice tea for autumn/winter – so if time permits, I might blend it as a special reblend.

Grapefruit Sugar Scrub – i’m not including Oolongs on the poll because I’ve already decided that one of the four new teas will be an Oolong.

The others are on the list! :)

52Teas said

I’m currently making up the poll – I am including Firebolt on the poll – to see the number of votes it receives (which will help me to determine if it’d be a popular reblend). I won’t be able to include it in the box, but the votes will at least give me a chance to see how in demand it is.

Here are my votes, but I was VERY spoiled with reblends I wanted to see in the last advent. :D

Berried Treasure
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Honeybush
Smoky Butterscotch Peach
one of the marshmallow treats? Banana Pudding genmaicha?

52Teas said

Thanks! I can’t include the Black Silk on the poll. There are numerous reasons for this – if you really want to know them, you can feel free to DM me. The others will be included on the poll! Thanks again!

No need to explain, but I’ll probably keep including it for poll suggestions anyway. :D

Please do! It will serve as a reminder for me to keep looking for the tea – which is the main reason for not reblending it: none of my current vendors offer the tea so I need to look outside the handful of vendors that I usually work with to source the tea … which means that I’d need to get my credentials to them and they’d need to send me samples so that I can put together a minimum order. It’s a lot of stuff (on top of the usual stuff) that I’d need to do before time to blend the teas in September/October – and I fear I don’t have the time I need and as I said above, I am NOT going to be late with the box this time.

So, I’m not saying I’ll never try reblending it (because I do want to try to reblend it – with my own twist on it) but just that I need to source the tea and do a lot of groundwork before I get the tea in my inventory to work with it – and then I’ve gotta work with it to get it right. :)

Completely understand. I’ve probably only seen the base tea once before and it was ages ago. But it’s such a memorable blend because of that. Maybe someday!
