Another great topic as I am interested in finding more consistent sites for this sort of thing…right now I just google news keywords and click on individual articles and go from there…
I guess I’ll try to get this started again because there have got to be places people go for good news about the industry and just general information about tea. I tend to visit a couple of sites:
www.teatrends.com (Adagio’s market analysis)
uptontea.com- they tend to have quarterly news about the history of tea and another interesting tidbits
In addition I’ve read “The Story of Tea” which, while poorly written, was a very good exploration into the different tea countries and cultures that have developed.
Just found this
Tea News Direct

TeaGschwendner planning major expansion in US market:
http://www.worldteanews.com/index.php/20100316902/Business-/-Financial/New-TeaG-Director-We-Don-t-Want-to-be-the-Starbucks-of-Tea.html
key quote: “We don’t want to be the Starbucks of tea, because Starbucks is all about going in, getting a cup of coffee as quickly as possible and leaving. Having been in the coffee industry, one of the largest differences I see between the two products is that coffee is trying to fill a need to give people a kick-start. Tea is the exact opposite. People have busy hectic lives, and tea is the beverage that allows them to take a moment, relax and enjoy that. The Starbucks model doesn’t fit the product, the role the product plays in customers’ lives.”
I can’t believe they think that the 1st sentence in your key quite is true for all, or even the majority of coffee drinkers. Why do people think coffee is the anti-tea and tea is the anti-coffee?
Zoomdweebies/52teas was profiled in a World Tea News article on successful “tea-of-the-month” style clubs: http://www.worldteanews.com/index.php/Features/Join-the-Club-Five-Firms-Turn-Tea-of-the-Month-Tide.html
