I’m sure I’ve made it known at some point that I’m not a huge fan of lemon in my tea, but I was intrigued when I stumbled across this Meyer lemon chai from Tea Market. It was the unique combination of ingredients that originally caught my eye, but I’ll be honest, I’m a bit fascinated with anything Meyer lemon at the moment. I’ve been using them in everything from vinaigrettes to lemon cake with fabulous results. So how did they taste in my tea? I’ll give you one word: delicious! This tea reminded me almost of a spicy lemonade without all the added sugar. It was sweet, tart, and the ginger gave it a spicy bite at the end. I could easily see this as a summer staple, so it’s going at the top of my shopping list.

Backlog. Cold brew. 1L, 10g. Blood orange flavor pops more, pretty tart. Not a whole lot of black tea flavor to this. I got a decent 2nd steep out of these leaves. I’ll be able to rest of my leaves this way.

Pretty broken leaves with orange scent. Orange scent reminds me of sunny delight. It tastes of orange. Flavors aren’t that strong. It’s decent. I feel like I need to try this again before I can rate it.

Bought this tea from their store in June, but is not available on their website.
Dry leaf – smell pineapple, see pineapple chunks, strawberry. Leaves are pretty broken.
During steep: get more strawberry.
At first sip, flavors aren’t too bright, pineapple strawberry. As it cooled, pineapple disappeared and I only get strawberry. I got a odd taste at the back of my tongue.
Not sold on this tea – odd taste makes me not want to drink again. It coated my mouth with freshness in a bad way.
Ended up drinking a beer to get the taste of it out of my mouth. Also brought tea drinking to an end on a sour note.
I am concerned about drinking more of this tea and as I’m remembering drinking this tea. I think I might just discard the rest of it. There’s way too much good tea out there to deliberately subject myself to the bad ones.

Bought this in June from their store, but it doesn’t show up on their website currently. Flavors : lemon, basil, oolong. Flavors are faint. I hope that doesn’t mean that the tea is old. As a first tasting, it’s fine. I need try again. Maybe I’ll add more leaf.

Cinnamon. That is all I am getting from this tea. It is a nice cinnamon tea but in no way, shape, or form does it resemble “cake.”
I was trying to find a similar tea to my beloved Granny’s Cake from the late RiverTea (I miss you!) This most definitely was not it.
The search goes on. 0_o

Unlike most chai this tea does not use black tea for a base and instead uses Yerba Mate, which has a higher caffeine content and a slightly toasted flavor. I’ve really been enjoying the strong flavor of cardamom mixed in with the citrus from the lemongrass and toasted notes of the yerba mate. The flavors are different than I’m accustomed to seeing in a chai, but they’re delicious— especially the cardamom.

My first Nilgiri tea! :) Thank you so much to Nicole for the generous sample! This tea is very nicely balanced, strong and completely smooth. It is not as strong as an Assam, but quite a bit stronger than Darjeelings of course. I wasn’t sure about how to prepare it, so, when I first tried it a few days ago, I steeped it for 3 minutes. I steeped it for 5 minutes today, and I have to say that I am enjoying the longer steeped tea more. The extra time did not make the tea bitter at all…increased the strength nicely while maintaining smoothness.

All the comments on the Ginger thread made me reach for a ginger tea. Hoping that it will be one more trick that I can use to reduce inflammation. Originally tried this in the shop hot but I think I’m going to save it for ice tea occasions. My family really enjoy peach tea so I was happy to find this combination but … I had to sweeten it to win them over. Glad that I did. Since Peaches was listed first in the name, I thought it would be a strong flavor but it proved to be no match for the strong unique taste of ginger.

This smells AMAZING. Another tea I just want to carry around all day and huff. Oh, it’s wonderful. Flavor wise, it’s not bad either. : ) The almonds are smooth, the peppercorns add a little bit of heat at the finish, and the entire nose reminds me vaguely of marachino cherries. Which I like. Yum.

This smelled awesome at the shop the other weekend, so we picked up 2 oz. I brewed up a pot this morning, and as I sipped, I thought… meh. I didn’t like it unless I sweetened it and even then not much. It wasn’t highly flavored enough for me.

I only finished half the pot, and as I was running out the door to go vote, I literally stuck the rest of the pot in the fridge for when I got home.

Now, as an iced tea – it’s pretty darned good. It’s almost better without sweetener iced, and has a lot more character.

More of this iced today, and it’s really growing on me. I steep double strength, then pour over ice cubes, and it’s just awesome. I don’t get much of the pomegranate, but it’s just yummy.

I had this hot, and I thought it was ok. Then I had this iced, and really liked it. I’m surprised, but I’m finding iced green oolong teas amazing lately. As summer is now starting, I think this may be where I get my tea for the hot season. :) Maybe not this green oolong, but definitely other green oolongs.

We tasted this as part of their Tea Basics class. I was disappointed with this blend. I’ve always enjoyed the citrus flavors especially tangerine but this was bitter. The aroma was great so when the acid taste hit my lips I was shocked.

As summer approaches this might be good as sweet tea rather than the traditional tea tasting experience.

I had the opportunity to sample this tea at their Tea Basics class today where I was lucky enough to have my very first Steepster meetup. Thanks out to Wombatgirl for the posting. What great fun and adds just another layer to the tealog experience. The class ended with this tea and it was great. Unlike many cinnamon teas that feel like it is soaked cinnamon bark this was a wonderful blend. Strong cinnamon flavor but smooth like a fine brandy.

Today, I found out definitively this tea is the same as Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon. I had suspected, but it’s good to know for certain. We went to the shop today for some more, and they were out of loose leaf, but had some H&S boxed sachets. As the husband was seriously craving cinnamon tea, we picked it up, and yes-it’s the same tea. Mystery solved!

Oh happy day!

I found this tea under a slightly different name at the World Cup of Tea in Franklin TN. I teased Lena that I was going to have to buy an entire pound of it while I was down there next week. Because I love this tea.

But! I just attended a class at a local tea shop (called Tea Market on 55th and Brookside for any other Kansas City folk on here) which was wonderfully informative AND I found out that they carried the same type of cinnamon tea! Smelled the same, looked the same, and most importantly TASTES the same.

YAY!

Plus, they’re the type of shop that gives you a tin when you buy over 2oz, so you don’t have to worry about finding another container, etc. Great shop and I LOVE THIS TEA! Very cinnamon, very red-hots-y. I don’t find myself wanting to sweeten it either, which is very odd for me.
