This is a one off Sample provided to me by Mandala. I really don’t know what to expect with this tea though.
I brewed it 212F/2:30/12oz I don’t know how much was in the sample though but I used up the entire thing.
This one has an interesting flavor to it. I’m getting tobacco, cherry, and a bit of metallic flavor. Also there is some amount of Malt and Bitterness to it as well for the black tea itself. It’s certainly not a bad tea. It just has a different flavor to it. Good tea though. I’ll give it a rec.
Flavors: Bitter, Cherry, Malt, Tobacco
Preparation
My monday was a little hectic but i WAS able to get in a few steeps of this today just to cross a puerh off my list. Im’ hoping that by the end of this year my cupboard will be much smaller in terms of puerh even though i adore it simply because i never have the time to really enjoy it. So i’ll wait for a few years for nugget to settle out. Sad to see this one go but not in the way that i was devastated by special dark or dark star. sigh
Had a bunch of steeps of this the other day. Been trying to find a day in the week to be able to have at least one of my puerhs. in some ways i’m trying to get them out of my cupboard…and in other ways i just want to get in to the habit of having them again because i REALLY enjoy my shou sessions.
Woohooo! So glad this one is back in my cupboard. Had it the toher day over the course of the day – something I’m trying to embrace doing so that I get to drink my puerh. I can see keeping this one in the cupboard for a long while…ie restocking cause I DO want to drink it often!
This is a sad sad sad sipdown. I finished this one off today with multiple cups whenever I had a spare moment from the kiddo. I need more of this in my cupboard as it’s a really delicious shu. I especially like that it irks well as a western brew when I need something a little stronger and deeper to get me going in the morning.
I REALLY have been enjoying this one though in all fairness I haven’t done a gong fu session yet…and at this rate may never get to one. What I have done is a bunch of western brews and resteeps and when I want a dark, bold brew for the morning this is it. Going to have ave to order more of this one when I get a chance.
21 days left until we move! and kiddo decided today was the day to start rolling back to front lol. pulled this one out first thing this mornig as i’ve been dying for some of my puerh. still can’t really take the time for a good long session, but i can drink a few western brew cups during the day if i start early. Going to make sure i save a little of this one for the new house, but man i am a fan! it’s up there as a western brew with some of my other mandala favourites.
Rolling! Fun! Our little guy started rolling around this time, I believe, but after he figured it out, he decided not to do it again for a month or so… and then, the craziness (crawling) started. Haha.
we technically should move her to the crib now since she’s rolling but that requires getting our dresser out of the room…which is doable once we make space for it in the “garage” with all the boxes we’ve got packed lol
I don’t think our guy rolled at night until 5 months, but he was swaddled until 4 and couldn’t move around much. He also only rolled front to back, and of course slept on his back anyhow. Once he was rolling at night, though, he started tummy sleeping!
Been drinking this one a bunch lately – always western brew with multiple resteeps. I really want to have a gonfu session with it, but there just hasn’t been any time with all the excitement. It’s not special dark but it ranks right up there with noble mark and a few others of garett’s delicious shu puerh :)
oh man. i had this tea yesterday western brew and it was amazing. I really hope i have time to try this gongfu style but at the moment, western is where it’s at given i don’t always have a lot of time with the little one to really sit and enjoy my tea with quite the same depth as i used to. cant even tell you why i loved it so much beyond it being dark and delicious. :)
For the record, on the resteep, I tried “British-ing” the tea as I like to call it. Not quite make it into a latte, but more just tempering it with a splash of milk and a touch of splenda. It makes a world of difference, and I now heartily recommend this tea, if made in this style.
Sounds interesting!
