I seriously love this tea. Chocolate not too overshadowing of the tea; just a hint of it! Well done!

Very sweet, and very enjoyable.

The cherry note is mild, but the vanilla tones are robust. Chocolate knits it all together nicely.

A very satisfying cuppa.

Yummy! This is probably the best chocolate tea I have tried thus far. It lacks that artificial taste that many have. It’s mildly complex in taste, with the hazelnut and cacao blending very well, and the spices in the blend complement those nicely. I recommend a longer steeping time to get a strong flavor; when I did it, there was basically no bitterness.

Backlog!

Thanks to Amanda for this tea! This was pretty nice! “Black” (is that the right term for tea with no additions?!?!), the flavors were somewhat subdued but once I added a little bit of sugar, the flavors really came out! It’s not as good as the Coco Raspberry Mate from Fusion, but it is comparable!

This isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, which might make you wonder why I tried it at all. I’m going through the teas that my in-laws have in their cupboard, and I love Kalahari’s other Chocolatte blends. They’re pretty good for you too- or at least I assume so with the combination of cacao and spices and tea. (Does drinking an infusion of cacao have similar benefits to eating it? I left the tea box in the other room.)
Anyway, it’s not disgustingly sweet at all, actually. Rather mild. It’s like any number of chocolate chais I’ve tried before, but with a less artificial overtone. I hate the chocolate flavoring used in a lot of choco teas- yeuch. This one is much more muted, which is why I can even stand it.

If anyone ever has a surplus of Kalahari tea and wants to unload it, look me up. Teabag snobbery be damned, this stuff is tasty. The orange is really bright, and the cacao and ginger make for a truly delicious combination. I oversteeped a bit with no ill effects. I found this originally in a Chicago Whole Foods, and got my mother-in-law addicted to it. Another tea I miss from Chicago!

I honestly thought this one would bore me…I would drink the cup and forget about it…but as I come to the end of my cup of this I have come to the conclusion that it really exceeded my expectations! The Honey and vanilla blend well with the rooibos and there isn’t a flavor that really stands out but at the same time this is remarkably smooth. This is tasty!

Sounds like the kind of blend rooibos was made for.

drank Earl of Africa by Kalahari Tea
4843 tasting notes

Thank you to Jaime for sending some of this my way! I really appreciate it!

I use 2 bags to brew a cup of this, because I think that 1 bag is just a little too weak… I can taste rooibos with the 1 bag, but I was left wanting more bergamot flavor… with the 2 bags it is just right.

And very good! The rooibos is somewhat woody and nutty but not icky sweet. The bergamot is a bit softer than in most of the Earl Grey teas that I enjoy, but, I like how the citrus and rooibos come together here. It’s very nice and comforting and relaxing.

So, I had high hopes for this tea versus the Hazelnut ChocoLatte by the same company, and that miiight have skewed my rating? While this tea is good (especially for bag tea), I feel like it isnt as harmonious as the Hazelnut. The cherry kinda gets lost and it’s not overall as rich. That said, it smells divine and it IS a satisfying cuppa..just not my favorite :)

This is my personal favorite morning beverage, I take it with almond milk and honey or sugar- basically treating it like I treat my coffee. It’s got a really harmonious chord of flavors going on, totally satisfying. I recommend a long steep time to really draw out the full flavor.
