37 Tasting Notes
this review is going to also be my review for the celestial seasonings regular sleepytime tea because im drinking this toe to toe with each other. 2 cups vanilla, then 2 cups regular. both of these teas are just so comforting. probably the vanilla a little more so, also smoother with the vanilla, but i am enjoying the directness of the regular over the vanilla right now. pretty sure i will have to give these both the same rating as it will come down to which i am in the mood for at the time.
got this in the kusmi russian blends sampler. caught the cola flavour i heard i might expect right away, i liked it quite a bit. by the end of the pot the spiciness was getting to be a bit much for me, mainly cloves. very good, but i will make this on a cup by cup basis from now on.
04/28/17 this really does taste like cola when you add sugar to this (like i do).
i was curious to see how many steeps i got out of one of these coins, but after 4 steeps western style i threw in the towel. this is my first puerh, and i got a definite fishiness through all 4 steeps. this made me think of walking along a boat dock with its taste of ocean air, and some seaweed flavours. also some flavors of stock for me. definitely caught a bit of a buzz from this.
edit: i think next time i try this i will rinse x3 before the first steep, and see how this affects the fishy funkiness.
edit 2: tried airing it out, and rinsing it and i couldnt even bring myself to try a cup of this afterwards the fishiness is just way too gross. to say im bumping my rating of this down is an understatement.
its like they used 2 bags for this tea. xl, 2 sugars. ill probably try the peppermint next time. ill drink the rest of this, but wont get it again.
edit: by the time i finished this i had bumped my rating down further, but based on other notes i might try this again with milk or ceam.
4/29/17 got this double double, and its way better though getting it with cream is a bit much for me, going to try 2 milk, 2 sugars next time, and i think ill like it better still. this is something i could drink once in a while on the fly. bumped my rating up a little.
That’s actually what they do (2 bags per pot). Timmies also “steeps” their Steeped Tea like coffee with a drip, resulting in a particularly bitter and concentrated brew. I need milk or cream to drink it too.
