52 Tasting Notes
This was my first introduction to Genmaicha Matcha which has variations on the spelling. Its still my favorite with the green tea powder adding a depth of flavor and the popped rice just a hint of grainy sweetness. The preparation doesn’t lend itself to rebrewings, the first cup is a strong green that feels like drinking springtime. There are notes of barely and wheat, grass and citrus. I have rebrewed but the resulting cup seems thin and weak. I am looking for replacements for this tea as Infusions of Tea does not seem to be resurfacing but no other brand has had such a depth of flavor.
Flavors: Bamboo, Bread, Grass, Lemon Zest, Roasted Barley
Preparation
I received this tea as a free sample from tea at sea with the cute boat and packaging. I had time for just 2 brewing’s of the leaves before I had to leave. For the last week I’ve been longing for more of this tea, I drink green tea all the time but this one is fuller, less grassy than most. More bread and wood flavors with undertones of cherry and other fruit, its a most satisfying afternoon tea.
Flavors: Bread, Stonefruit
