28 Tasting Notes
Flavors: Earth, Nutty, Sweet, Wood
Preparation
A bit more of a grassy aroma that reminds me of a Tieguanyin. The wet aroma is less floral/grass any slightly creamy and milk. The brewed tea is a bit on the light side but really does have some nice milky flavors reminiscent of a milk oolong but not as extreme. I wouldn’t say this tea is my favorite but its still quite enjoyable and decently priced. I would but more of this if I was looking for a daily green oolong.
Flavors: Creamy, Floral, Grass, Milk, Sweet
Preparation
This is just a really good priced Taiwanese green oolong which is for sure on the floral side of things. Not too complex but something I would for sure recommend for people who enjoy floral teas, has a taste similar to jasmine. As for me I found it to be a bit too floral and lacking in other things, but I was still able to enjoy it.
Flavors: Floral, Smooth, Sweet
Preparation
This tea has a really amazing sweet/cinnamon aftertaste, also not as floral as green Oolongs and also a bit thicker. Has really rich honey/caramel flavor with along with a sort of wood flavors that turn to cinnamon. This one was just really pleasant to drink, also quite complex so its never boring.
This is definitely one of the teas that shows me how much more I enjoy more oxidized or roasted Oolongs.
Flavors: Caramel, Cedar, Cinnamon, Medicinal, Roasted
Preparation
The first thing I notice with this tea is just how amazing the leaves look, they are nicely shaped and quite light and fuzzy. This tea has a nice woody aroma with a hint of sweetness. The tea brews up pretty light and has a really pleasant grassy flavor with a woody/sweet finish. Overall I really enjoyed this tea but perhaps I could of brewed it for longer as it was a tad light for my taste.
Flavors: Cedar, Fruity, Grass, Wood
Preparation
I am reviewing the 2016 version of this tea which I still would say is fairly fresh like the rest of my Shincha. I would say this one is my favorite is has a really nice balanced flavor, vegetal and grassy with a mouthwatering sweet finish. Along with some mellow umami flavors and a tad of astringency.
Out of all of the ones I tried I found this to be my favorite and most memorable tea, one that I will for sure be buying more of in the future.
Flavors: Fruity, Grass, Seaweed, Umami, Vegetal
Preparation
I just got done finishing off the last bit of this cake, I for sure really enjoyed it as I drank through it at a pretty good pace. I really enjoy this one because its a lot different than the other shou pu’erh I have. This one has more of a camphour, wet and woody flavors that really stand out. It always has a very nice clean taste and can be steeped quite a few times.
Would recommend this one to anyone looking for something a bit different in a shou pu’erh.
Flavors: Camphor, Camphor, Sweet, Sweet, Wet Earth, Wet Earth, Wet Wood, Wet Wood
Preparation
Just a really nice tasting dark tea that I found pretty similar to some of the pu’erh In enjoy. It consists of pretty large leaves which give off a nice earthy and wood flavor. This tea is really smooth and can be steeped quite a few times.
This is my first time trying a dark tea other than pu’erh and I can say I’m pretty impressed, this would make a great daily drinking tea for me.

I am reviewing the 2016 Sencha Kaoru, I’ve had it around for a while but it still really fresh. Has a really nice sweet and grassy aroma and the leaves are quite small and broken up, which I find is normal for Fukamushi. Although I would say this one seems to be more steamed than the Yutaka Midori.
It brews up a nice dark green color with some cloudiness, it has a wonderful grassy flavor along with quite a bit of umami. The flavor increased quite a lot on the second steep, to the point where the steep time had to be quite fast.Flavors: Grass, Sweet, Umami
