This is my favourite peppermint tea. I absolutely love it. I have yet to find a peppermint infusion that is anywhere near this. However, it is a bit tricky to brew. I didn’t quite like it in the beginning, but then I realized I had been brewing it wrong. I often leave the tea in the cup until I have drunk it all up, but this tecnique does not do with this infusion. In my opinion, you mustn’t leave the bag in for too long. You should also drink the tea as soon as it’s not burning your tongue. I actually don’t like the taste at all if it has cooled for too long. But when I manage to brew it “correctly”, it’s pure magic. I love it.

I told myself not to buy more tea for now but I just broke that promise. Every evening I find myself with another cup of this wonderful tea. It’s spicy in a well-balanced way and not at all sweet. It has a surprisingly welcome distinct taste of fennel. I didn’t think I was a fan of fennel, but then again, I didn’t think I was a fan of rooibos either. This is a must-have in my cupboard. Perfect for when I want something caffeine free that isn’t too sweet.

This is my third go at this one. I’m still not sure what to think of it. At first I was too shocked by the sourness to notice anything else. I certainly didn’t expect that – I’m not very fond of sour teas. I tried twice to sweeten it with honey but instead of eliminating the sourness it just made me gag. But –

This time I mentally prepared myself for the sourness. I decided to keep the tea bag in longer than the package suggests, and I think it did the trick. Tasting it now I realise that it actually tastes exactly like it should – it tastes of baked apples. When the tea hits the tongue it’s still shockingly but not unpleasantly sour. As you begin to swallow you can taste the cinnamon and the pie crust. Wait, pie crust? Baked apples, not apple pie! I must’ve meant the almonds, hazelnut brittle and the mysterious “flavourings”.

It’s not the kind of tea I’d drink to calm myself down after a stressful day. This is more of an interesting gourmet experience. I still have 12 tea bags left – that’s pretty good conditions for falling in love.

I’m usually not that fond of herbal infusions but this one is amazing. The flavour is rich and spicy but has a soft, round sweetness. The scent reminds me of a pumpkin spice syrup I bought at a market last fall.

I must add that liquorice root in itself makes me gag, but in this tea it’s well balanced. The fennel is noticeable but not overpowering.

This was somewhat disappointing. I really liked the Blueberry Muffin tea from the same collection and was hoping for something similar… This tea surely tastes of strawberries, but the cupcake flavour is nowhere to be found. I guess it’s an okay strawberry green tea, but I think I’ll just go for a non-cupcake one next time so that I don’t have to get all disappointed.

The first time I accidentally overbrewed it which totally eliminated the caramel. The second time I was more careful.

Both the dry leaves and the brewed cup have a nice smell of old-fashioned caramel. The taste is mostly black tea, a pleasant black tea indeed, with a hint of caramel. I’m not a big fan of caramel teas so I appreciate the subtleness. If you want a stronger caramel you might want to pick another tea, but simply adding sweetener to this one works as well.

(I also noticed that the cooled tea tastes more of caramel)
