drank Premium Sencha by Lotus Island

I bought this tea on a whim while shopping one day, and don’t regret it! This flavorful sencha is cheap, organic, delicious, and lasts forever. I infuse each serving up to three times without a loss of flavor. The leaves before steeping are a pleasant silky texture, and the aroma is verdant and warm. For those who love “grassy” teas, this tea will satisfy. I bought it in Colorado where the company distributes, so I am unsure if it appears in stores elsewhere. But you can order it from their website I’m sure – www.lotusisland.com

A pleasant alternative to a loose earl grey! few bagged teas get it right, but I think they did. Not as strong as I would like, but I feel that’s a bit picky for the overall quality of it.

For me, this is one of Celestial Seasoning’s blunders. Maybe it’s low quality leaves, maybe it’s something they add to it, but it doesn’t have the good clean fresh taste other green teas have. It is, in fact, really gross! I bought some as a cheaper replacement for loose leaf green teas and I couldn’t finish the box.

My mom used to drink this tea when I was a kid as a replacement for coffee, so the aroma and flavor hold a strong sense of nostalgia for me. This IS a weird tea, now that I’m a more experienced tea drinker, perhaps an acquired taste. But the musky sweet aroma and bitter coffee-like flavor is really enjoyable if you give it a chance. Great with a dash of cream and honey, a favorite for cold winter mornings for me. Also wonderful blended with a smidgen of Scottish breakfast tea for a little kick of caffeine!

By itself, it doesn’t seem complete as an overall flavor, thought sweet enough that added honey or sugar isn’t needed. However I find this tea is a GREAT flavor supplement to a strong assam or other black tea! The aroma is amazing too, fantastic chocolate scent with hints of that spice and strawberry behind it.
