4843 Tasting Notes
Rather than my usual Breakfast Blend this morning, I reached for this.
I love the aroma of this tea. I described the aroma as “spirited” for my review on the Tea Review Blog. It is vibrant and exhilarating.
The flavor is robust. Not as robust as say, an Assam. But it is a pleasantly strong black tea with notes of earth, spice and fruit. It is very good without sweetener, although because allergy season is upon us, I added a dollop of the raw, locally harvested tea that I procured yesterday – and it is quite lovely with the honey.
A very nice way to start the day.
Preparation
Now that I’ve exhausted the yellow buds, I am moving on to the last (sob) of my Bai Yun Oolong from Norbu.
It is truly sublime – as always! I love it!
What a great TEA day it has been!
Multiple infusions of the Bai Yun to follow!
Preparation
Yes, I’m still enjoying my yellow buds, but, in between infusions, I decided to really treat myself today (I must really be liking me today) and make myself some Matcha! Not just any Matcha – but some DoMatcha-awesomeness!
Lovely!
I love the Ceremonial Grade DoMatcha – it is so pleasantly sweet, with less bitterness than other Matcha teas I’ve tried. Delightful.
It’s Friday, so I decided I deserved a little treat! Yay for Yellow Tea!
Ahhh… now this is tea! I love Yellow Tea! The smooth, soft, mellow flavor is unparalleled.
Drink it hot, no sweetener, perfect, perfect, perfect!
Multiple … err … um … infusions … yes, infusions! That’s it! Multiple INFUSIONS to follow. And that’s all I’m admitting to.
Preparation
My order from Tavalon arrived today! Woo hoo! I mainly ordered from them so that I could try their green tea latte almonds (those just sounded way too good), but I also ordered a little jar of this tea too.
It’s nice! The flavor is soft – as is usually the case with a white tea – and the tropical flavors are equally as soft so not to overwhelm the taste of the white tea. I don’t detect much from the roses except for a slight floral note in the finish. The flavor is very delicate – pleasantly sweet. I like. I’m off now to begin working on a review for it for the Tea Review Blog!
Preparation
After coming home from my daughter’s school – today was “Donuts with Dear Mom” day – I indulged in a cup of Masterpiece Chai – my absolute favorite chai in the world. A bit of steamed, frothed milk (I actually use half & half because we buy 1% milk which I think is too thin, so I get myself a little carton of half & half for my tea) and honey make this the nicest cup of chai available anywhere (except for maybe India!)
Now that I’m finishing up the cup though, I already contemplating what I shall brew next……
Preparation
Without a doubt this is my favorite chamomile blend, and since I’m headed to bed a bit earlier than usual tonight, I feel like I can use a little encouragement via my Meadow Nocturne.
I am not a particular fan of chamomile, but, I do like it ok in blends, and it certainly is effective in promoting relaxation. I love how the honeybush gives this blend a pleasant sweetness, and I absolutely adore lavender. This is just delightful and I can already start to feel that much needed sense of calm.
Preparation
This is my first time trying this tea. I have been really happy with the other Tea Guys teas so I am fairly confident I will like this one too…
Wow! This is really good. Much, much better than I anticipated. I’m not a big fan of rooibos. I like rooibos ok, but more often than not its a bit too sweet for my liking, and tastes a bit like artificial sweetener (like saccharine) has been added. But the combination of flavors here seems to offset that weird rooibos sweetness enough so that it’s not as prevalent. This blend also contains honeybush which I like much better than rooibos.
Make no mistake though, this is a very sweet tea. It just doesn’t taste like a fakey-rooibos-saccharine-ish sweet. It has a pleasant fruity sweetness, with a touch of honey and maple. A very nice dessert treat – and perfect for this time of evening.
Preparation
After all the tea that I’ve drunk today (I managed 4 infusions from the Bai Yun!), I’ve decided it’s time to make some non-caffeinated choices.
I like this one pretty well. The fig flavor is a bit more mellow than I remember it being in previous infusions, but the cinnamon is nicely pronounced here – not a strong, spicy-hot cinnamon but a spicy-sweet cinnamon. There is a fruity presence also – but, it doesn’t taste definitively of fig.
It’s still quite good though and it’s a nice, mellow cup. Pleasantly sweet.
I am now on my second infusion of the leaves, which is just as delightful as the first. There are some notable differences, however: I found the second infusion to possess stronger fruit notes. The earthy notes are a bit softer and sweeter, and the spice tones are a bit softer too. Overall the second infusion is not quite as robust as the first – but it is still absolutely lovely!
