6 Tasting Notes
Agreed with previous notes about bergamot in this particular tea, it really does shine through. Brisk but smooth in flavors and somewhat (surprisingly so!) fruity, I enjoy that this tea is so drinkable and yummy yet not overly complex. A solid tea for pretty much any time you’re hankering for a quick cup.
I absolutely tore through my first order of this tea and am now pacing myself through the second. The first time I prepared this, I prepared it all wrong and wasn’t too impressed (though I didn’t think it was bad), it was just much more like a green tea than a white tea.
The next go around I was more careful in my preparation. I poured very warm water just enough to cover the bag and let it sit about a half minute before adding the rest of the water, and I used water that wasn’t at boiling. I also shortened my steeping time from 4 minutes to 2 minutes. The cup came out absolutely perfect.
The aroma is amazing and the flavor was sweet, slightly creamy, and very pure. The aftertaste came out as the slightly earthy aftertaste of drinking a clean green tea, which was very pleasant. I really enjoy this tea in the summer (hot or cold) because of how delicate it is.
Preparation
This is possibly the most revolting tea I’ve ever had the displeasure of tasting. The smell was enticing— cherry with a hint of vanilla. The flavor was sickeningly sweet, muddied, and poorly balanced. I would give this tea to someone if I disliked them and wanted them to suffer a little.
I accidentally grabbed this instead of a bag of Zen on my way to work. When I got to work and brewed this, I actually thought that my tea cup hadn’t been washed enough and needed to be re-washed. That’s when I realized it wasn’t the cup, but the tea itself. It’s not the most undrinkable thing I’ve ever had, but despite keeping brew time brief (3 minutes) and using only warm water (no scorching the leaves) this tea was really bitter and astringment to me, and the after taste was quite unpleasant. Not a fan.
I really enjoy this as an iced tea when I’m craving something a little sweeter, since this tea is sweet and fruity and requires no additional sugar. It benefits from steeping a long time, and I like to do a cold steep with ice water.
