390 Tasting Notes
does anyone know if it’s possible to ‘hit a wall’ with essay writing? i mean, i know you can do it with jogging and jumping jacks…. but i have all of my very sensible data sitting in front of me, but that’s it. it’s like a paper weight. with eyes. blinking at me. sigh. c’mon!
this tea makes me smile though…. the rude data that was never taught that staring is impolite can watch me as i sip. yyz, my awesome friend, chased all over toronto to get this elusive tea for me! (ahem, and possibly discovered a few things she’d been looking for? lol)
i love this tea. light and fruity, but in a summer way versus the screaming ‘i actually want to be a caffeine free herbal!!’ the way some can be.
possibly my essay will make more sense after i run my whipped cream experiment…. i plan on playing with matcha and strawberries. i may take pictures and post them on FB. if it’s an abysmal failure i make no promises that i won’t gripe! =0)
thank you yyz!
Preparation
this flavour is truly incredible. it boosts my entire smoothie to an aromatic, fruity, aristocratic work of art!
truly brilliant. no time to review….. homework, homework. RED LEAF…… i am sharing with fellow students, who are also amazed by you!!!!
Preparation
kaylee sent me a lovely sample of this tea… my first dammann freres green!
a fresh, sweet tasting dragonwell with hints of spiced orange? but not strongly orange… and not a spice i recognize! what am i tasting? almost a brandied orange without the bitterness of alcohol.
quite unique- lovely! thank you so much for such a graceful surprise, kaylee……
Preparation
this + super fruit greens + raspberries + 1 banana + fresh coconut/mango/banana juice + 1/4 cup light cream. blend. held me for 6 hours AND (tah dah!!!!!) my red leaf smoothie trend must be working because i’ve lost 5 inches!!!
just the right amount of tang, lovely smooth long term caffeine punch. this is awesome!
yippee! this was my favourite smoothie thus far. i feel so bad for booster juice….. they’ve got nothing on my blender =0)
Preparation
TY! i stopped by winners to grab a pair of shorts, grabbed my regular size… they fell down, and just kept dropping sizes! i’m thinking i must have looked like quite a slob these last few months. (i grabbed 3 new pairs of shorts =0) i feel very streamlined, lol.
=0) i’m quite pleased. i spend a decent amount of time at the gym and scale wise there’s been a change, but the inches are more significant. the key for me seems to be NOT to cut out fat. so chucking in avocado or cream holds me for longer but also seems to encourage me to lose….. through some amazing fact of counterintuitiveness. just keep doing what i’m doing! and yay red leaf!
one of the greatest things about swaps is that things arrive on your doorstep that you may never have chosen. thanks so much to kaylee for this!!! i really never would have chosen it and it’s outstanding….
the risk with pine is it can punch you in the nose while it’s going down. is there even a hint of that in this blend? nope!
this really is a masterpiece, brendan. very, very fine. the lightest hints of pine that behave as mint with an essence of eucalyptus, but mostly a very sweet green. no vegetal tone. no seaweed. not nuts…. a pure, light chlorophyll element, as though the components were freshly gathered.
sprightly, subtle, anything but boring…. i foresee an order in future…. thank you so much kaylee!
Preparation
funny…. i know i’ve already reviewed this tea, but poof! it’s gone. maybe the steepster renovations ate it?
this is a lovely blend. it was a surprise gift from MissB. months ago that i save.
an almost bitter black with a smooth almond rise that doesn’t run you over. i love the whole rosebuds in the blend… i don’t get a lot of floral notes, but they buds are lovely to look at.
i enjoyed it tonight with turbinado and cream. i think my initial problems negotiating with this tea may actually have been the sweetener i was using? it’s much more settling with turbinado than agave. interesting.
i do love this tea.
thank you again for this present B. even though it was months ago now. =0) still makes me smile!
Preparation
This was decadent! i had this in with an avocado, banana/coconut cream/pineapple juice, fresh raspberries, a scoop of greens and a dragonfruit i had kicking around. i headed to the gym, got some instructions from a brazilian guy who is so fit (without trying) that i even if i had every part of me stuffed with implants i couldn’t look like him! lmao!!!
HOWEVER- i learned spiffy new lifts! and learned fantastic new swear words in a ton of languages (the exchanges you never expect to have in random conversation!), and all the while was listening to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28HYsul40D4
=0)
here’s to hoping a random student doesn’t call my geo prof out in front of the class as a racist tomorrow (because he really isn’t and we were all miserable while the ass carried on).
hope you like the song!
Preparation
learning how to swear in several languages is actually very important-never know when it’ll come in handy, I say!
this came to me by way of a lovely surprise gift from CelebriTEA. a note in my inbox queried whether her package had arrived…? (what package? i wondered) steepster is a brilliant community and CelebriTEA decided a tea surprise was in order!
i’ve never had any shanti teas before. erring on the side of caution (stupid allergies) CelebriTEA chose a selection of unflavoured brilliance to arrive on my doorstep. this was the first i tried.
confession: often even with tea swaps even if i’m hugely looking forward to a sample i’ll drink it once and wait a bit. even if i buy it myself…. i don’t do back to back servings (i’m a terrible resteeper). i did with this tea!
hint of malt, hint of chocolate, very smooth caffeine kick. ‘refined’ is the word i would choose. a natural sweetness, though i do enjoy a bit of turbinado and cream. if i think really hard possibly light elements akin to citrus? making me think it may be fijian in origin? possibly?
lovely. thank you so much CelebriTEA for thinking of me as i knuckle down in my studies =0).
xoxoxox.
how can there be so few reviews for this tea? it’s awesome? if you enjoy straight black teas, folks- this is one i would recommend for sure!
Preparation
I mostly despise shanti tea’s website….i dislike having to sign in too build a cart and there’s something else about not being able to see if it’s sold out or something easily…..I don’t remember since it’s been a while since I went back to try and build a cart before being annoyed….lol
ah! this is something i have no experience with! the tea is nice.. =0). i can see how that would be frustrating.
this is awesome. i snagged this with the redleaf 5 for 7 deal.
with summer compressed classes i start my day with a smoothie…. this morning i broke into this bag of matcha. it was great! frozen fruit, aloe juice (unsweetened), scoop of greens powder, 1/4 of a cucumber, coffee cream (instead of yogurt), scoop of this (or other red leaf matcha). i’m good for the day!
9 hours of classes, hitting the gym bulkier with muscle but leaner in the gut- happy day!
if you want a real brain breaker do this but chuck in half an avocado. so awesome! redleaf- i’m a huge fan, and i really don’t see that changing =0) (you’re very, very good with or without the smoothie).
Your welcome James! Yes it’s entirely possible to hit a wall while writing an essay. Been there done that. I either was trying to condense a books worth of research into essay form, or most likely over thinking and planning the whole thing. My advice walk a way from it, make your fancy drink, which sounds fun by the way, then just allow it to tumble out of your head. Don’t worry about phrasing or making it perfect, that’s what writings for. Don’t over think it. Enjoy the tea!
Yes, I did discover some things I had been looking for (Turkish glasses, some other teas:)) and discovered some new stores!
Can you post the pictures on here? It sounds amazing! :)
I know that exact same “paper weight with eyes” feeling, good luck!
i can post links! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1436302663296028&set=ms.1436302663296028.1436302353296059.bps.a.1421235654802729.1073741833.100007489238123&type=1&theater
only thing is, my profile is pretty locked up…. if you CAN’T see this let me know and we’ll just be friends on FB if you want?
i think i’m just at the stage where i’m done….. of course NOT being able to stop is less helpful. i am being evaluated for a scholarship. so i can’t even throw caution to the wind and say f*** it, lol!
yeah….i can’t see it. :(
you can friend me on fb
will do! sorry…. i keep my profile decently private =0/
no problem. It’s really safer that way these days. I want to know more about matcha tho. I’m very interested in the whole matcha ceremony, but not sure if i will like it so if i should bother buying all the equipment and stuff-or even the tea itself, but I’m intrigued by these flavored ones that you posted about. I looked at Red Leaf tea’s website after you posted about the black current matcha and i think i ordered something off there(sometimes i forget what i order…lol).
I hit a wall all the time with my writing. I either do what yyz suggested, or I just write until something useful comes out — and it always does, eventually, just takes a few hundred more words to get there. ;)
that does work, absolutely…… i just have a deadline. which isn’t helping. lmao!
You can do it, James! :) (Also, matcha whipped cream? Genius. Doing that in the morning!)
