From the Mengku Big leaf tea varietal, these beautiful light green buds are covered with delicate silver hairs. Handpicked with only one leaf and a bud, this tea produces an aroma of fresh bay leaves and light hay-colored liquor. The tea soup has a body that is full and silky, with a sweet and lingering finish. The flavor notes range from lightly vegetal to sour cherry depending on the brewing. Harvested in March 2023, the fresh flavor of this tea is pronounced. However, as with all white teas, it will surely develop into something even more special with age.
Produced in the Lincang region of Yunnan Province, this tea is harvested by the Dai Tribespeople near Jinngu Yunnan, known as the home of tea. This area is on the original Tea Horse Trail, renowned for its teas. We have found that the terroir of this region lends a distinctive flavor to all of its teas that transcends the production method (Pu’er, White tea, Black or Red Tea, or Green Tea). Each tea has notes of the lush green forests and unique soil of the region. Yunnan Silver Needles is no exception.
