From Yunnan Sourcing

This is a pure assamica varietal first flush of spring 2019 pluck from 60-120 tea trees growing on Min Feng Mountain in Yong De county of Lincang.

Min Feng Mountain is located Northwest from Yong De town at an altitude of 2100 meters. The tea used for this production grows at about 1700 meters on a steep hillside.

The tea is plucked and then air-dried over a period of several days and then pressed into cakes. White tea made in this minimalist manner is replete with cha qi, flavor, and aroma! The tea soup is has a deep orange-red color with a thick viscous character. The tea takes many many steeps, only very gradually losing it’s flavor and body!

357 Grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

Devon Bartholomew Advent Day 14

I haven’t had many white tea cakes, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. I steeped it Western-style and got distracted, so steeped it longer than planned. But it’s still smooth and sweet without the slightest hint of bitterness or astringency! It’s definitely more full-bodied than other white teas I’ve tried with a rich, creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is quite sweet and cake-like with notes of vanilla. Really enjoying this one and hoping I can get another steep out of it!

I am really liking this. This white tea is strongly oxidized and the leaves are pretty red. There is a lot of sweetness and thickness, with bold foresty/swampy and fruity+vanillaish aromas that give this tea great depth and complexity. There is also a bit of that almost medicinal old book woody sweetness of aged white teas. Very comforting overall feel that makes this feel really nice in the body.
