From Yunnan Sourcing

Our Autumn 2015 Imperial Grade Silver Needle White Tea was picked in the first week of March from the tender buds of Jinggu area “Da Bai Hao” varietal tea trees.

The “Da Bai Hao” varietal is a natural hybrid of Assamica that is unique to the Jinggu area of Simao (in Yunnan).

Silver Needles White Tea (aka Bai Hao Yin Zhen) is a special tea where only the tender shoots (the bud) are picked, lightly wilted, pan-fried briefly at low temperature and then allowed to dry naturally (sometimes with the help of fans). This relatively unadulterated style of processing lends the Silver Needle tea a fruity and sweet taste and aroma that even with a year or two of age will still taste thick, viscous and full in the mouth.

Naturally grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers!

I now think steepster is eating reviews too. Not like me to not review a tea I have almost finished a month after it has arrived.. Im sure reviewed this one before. Oh well.

recently ive been hitting it with lower temperatures, like 70c and getting a really pleasant pear & apple aroma & taste. still white, and slightly citrusy, people say hay but i get something else, but defo like a nice white wine. iirc this one can get slighty bitter notes if oversteeped, will have to retry this and report. I think it can take multiple steeps well, losing the citrus edge but still nice.

Really enjoyed it today (and other days) although to me its not the strongest ying zhen I have had before for pure floral, or subtle divine flavour which I have experienced before.

it has smaller tighter more yellow leaf, isnt green & white fluff, but totally enjoyable if you like a touch of zest in there. (something to do with it being the autumn harvest? i dont know)

really nice to drink. more relaxing, nice qi for me.

I sometimes post something then forget to hit the button that actually posts it (switch windows, and just forget).

yeah, I do that. But I even had to re-log the tea, upload a new picture etc. Wasnt even on the server when I searched for it. which is weird because that is what I do while im drinking the tea. Maybe im mistaken but ive heard a few times now people saying similar things. Unless we are all just tea drunk all the time. That has been happening recently drinking all this sheng. my heads gone a bit weird

It has happened to me too actually. Now I post it in another forum as a backup.

When I get tea drunk, my mind slips into a place where it cannot function properly. That might’ve happened!

This tea was in the YS monthly package for January I think. I am really enjoying white teas lately being brewed at 90C. They are just so good at that temperature.

So this tea has an autumn leaf taste to it. There’s a bit of hay and it’s thick sweet tasting. A bit of fruitiness but not as much as some other white teas I’ve had. Overall, I really liked this one.

“Autumn leaf taste”, such a great description! Instantly created the desire to try the tea.

I just was about to review this one as well. at around 70c I got a really nice pear thing going on. I’m sure I reviewed this one before though, hence why I re-upped the tea today – is steepster really eating reviews?

S.A., That’s what I got when I tried it. You might get something different like Rasseru. You never know.

Rasseru, that’s really interesting you got such different notes than me by brewing it at 70C. I loved it at 90C but think I will give it a try at the 70. It appears more of the fruity notes comes out at the lower temperatures.

Rasseru

It was like apple and pears – you know how they are a similar floral nature with a hint of citrus? it was like that. very subtle but thats how they came together for me. Maybe it was the subtlety that created these thoughts.
