From Yunnan Sourcing

2009 Yunnan Sourcing “Gu Shu Lan Xiang” Raw Pu-erh tea cake * 200 grams

This is another tea produced by Yunnan Sourcing and Rui Cao Xiang from early Spring 2009 mao cha. “Gu Shu Lan Xiang” means “ancient tree, orchid aroma” and refers to the unique aroma that this has when brewed. The tea from hundreds of year old trees in the Bu Lang village known as “Xin Gui / 新囡寨” is strong in flavor, with a fair amount of “ku / 苦” and little or no “se / 涩”. The brewed tea is golden and thick with a strong mouth-feeling that can be described as cooling and lubricating. The brewed leaves are dark green in color and thick and burly.

One of my personal favorites… this tea is more to be experienced than tasted!

Stone-Pressed with perfect compression!

Harvest time: March 2009
Harvest area: Xin Gui Village, Bu Lang Mountains of Menghai County
Tea Weight: 20grams per cake
Recommeded brewing: 6 grams per 100ml of water. Wash once… early infusions 10 to 20 seconds per infusion. Later infusions increase to 30s, 40s, 50s

I love this tea dearly… from the moment I drank the mao cha in the tiny Bu Lang village it came from and now a year later. It’s got tons of texture and thick “hui gan” that stays in the mouth and throat long after drinking it. Age will only make it nicer! There are few teas better than this one. I like “Dong Fang Bu Bai” a little better!
