Thank you hallieod for this one! This isn’t half bad. I want to try this as a cold brew since that’s part of why I wanted to try it. As a hot brew this is a decent green tea. The mango flavouring isn’t artificial, but it is a little light. Glad to see this one, and looking forward to the next attempt as a cold brew! :)

Hmm, now I have been kinder when brewing this, and it is indeed lovely. Very very strong, lovely gorgeous natural mango scent in the tea mixture. After brewed, the mango is much less overpowering, just this perfect balance of nice green tea with fruit, not too much fruit and not too little (for my taste). Lots of sunflower petals, not sure what they do to the taste (add texture?).

I did a second steep of this and it was a great idea. The wet leaves smell totally differently after the steep, like cut grass almost, almost a minty tone, and I got very curious about what a second steep would be like. Maybe because I used hotter water and left the tea for longer, it was more mango-ish. The tea also tasted greener, though not the minty-grassy tones the leaves smelled of! Just lovely, at both steeps.

A lovely flavoured green, which I appreciate the more for having tried a few artificially flavoured ones by mistake. The mango is delicious, and either it balances out sencha’s typical bite of bitterness or this is a particularly mellow sencha base. This one even convinced Becca (not a green tea fan) that green teas could be good, though she said she’d have preferred it with a bit of honey.

I’ve never got around to drinking it as an iced tea, despite the suggestions from Yumchaa, but then it’s just not often hot enough to put you off drinking hot tea here! Second infusions have been a bit less tasty, but I’ll try again and make more careful notes.

I liked this one very much as well – and try Wanderlust as well, nice good natural flavoured green.

Hallieod

Ooh, yes, I’ve been eyeing Wanderlust, so it’s good to know you like it! I have to be strong and wait just a little while until I order from Yumchaa again, but my resolution is waning sadly.

cteresa

I can send you a little, just to try! Maybe of this and Chelsea Chai as well which is luuuurrrrvely in a spearmint-cinnamon way. And (but you must save it for when ill) Ginseng Guardian Blend. I am fortunately really stocked and would love to share with you – I finished the other day the rose tea you gave me years ago!

Hallieod

Oh, that would be fantastic! Only the Wanderlust and Chelsea Chai though – I’ve looked with interest at the Ginseng Guardian a number of times, but it has yogurt and I’m dairy-free. :(

I have a memory of your having a specific rose tea you were after, but no memory of exactly what it was, only quite sure that what I got was not it! I will think about what I can send you in return – there’s a teashop in Dublin that was recommended to me, as having a very good selection of rooibos (among others, presumably), and I’m determined to get there soon!

cteresa

The rose tea is sadly now defunt, Twinings no longer does it – and I strongly suspect now I that i had hundreds more different teas since then it might now have been as special as all that! Maybe – like the danger of rereading a few things! I got a lovely lovely rose tea from a local store the other day, though next time I rebought from same place it was not as good – I will try a third time when i finish what I have.

Hallieod

Ah, yes, the danger of rereading! Fingers crossed that the lovely rose tea will be back to excellent next time!

This tea is very pleasant, has a tasty sencha base, and has made me some nice iced tea. But, it’s loosing its scent and flavour. Yikes! I need to repackage it badly but am out of empty tins.

A personal favourite. Comes together very nicely if you go for a shorter steep time (2-3 minutes), which allows some more subtle flavours. A longer steep brews far stronger, but also gives an overpowering mango taste.

Yumchaa recommend pouring a little cold water on the leaves beforehand, which seems to work well. Also found that this tea attracts a metallic taste if the water is boiled in certain kettles, so watch out for that, if it tastes metallic on the teeth.

Great tea!

Wonderfully fragrant and fruity. The mango is smooth and flavourful and mixes so well with the green tea. Not bitter in the least. As far as green tea goes, this one’s a winner! Thank-you to EmilyGee for including this as a sample in our swap.

Sipdown. The dry leaf smells like sweet mango, and that’s exactly what the brew tastes like too. The sencha base gives it just a touch of grassiness to keep the sweetness from getting cloying. I brewed this hot but decided to ice most of it after a few sips of the hot brew. It lends itself really nicely to that treatment. The sencha base comes out a little more in the aftertaste. However, the dominant note is still gently sweet mango. This blend isn’t mind-blowing but it is definitely a solid offering. Thanks so much for sending this to me, EmilyGee!
