From white2tea

The 2019 Turtle Dove is a pressed white tea from Yunnan. Made from large leaf varietal material that is sun dried with no machine processing involved.

Our classic white tea has a thick body, soft mouthfeel, and a unique natural fragrance. Sweet and succulent with plenty of endurance for re-steeping. This tea is very forgiving with any type of brewing, including gongfu, western, or grandpa style. A perfect white tea to drink daily without much fuss.

Backlong: 1/17/21
Sipdown
Finished the sample of this yesterday. I started drinking it with breakfast, but the moment quickly faded into an adventure. I threw this into a thermos to go, and it was the tea I grandpa styled the remainder of the day. This tea is/was tightly compressed, which was nice, since I was able to toss it into the gaiwan for later use.

It took me a few steeps last night and a couple this morning before I called it quits. This tea will brew and brew, if you want it to. Nice sweet notes of hay and lightly malty.

Free coin that came with a recent order. Not sure what year actually, since the sticker on the coin ripped when I was opening it so I couldn’t read the year on the label. initially tossed the coin into a mug and was intending to grandpa. It was bitter and astringent to the point of being undrinkable, which is sort of my fault given the high ratio (6.7g coin into mug when I usually add like 3g of leaves) and adding boiling water. I shifted it to a thermos and added water to dilute it, so it became drinkable. At any rate, wasn’t really a fan. Tastes more like a black tea (hong cha/红茶), with the malty, floral, honeyed notes in that style. Dry sugared finish. Still astringent, though not as bitter as before. Pretty sure I’ve tried Turtle Dove in the past, and it wasn’t memorable, but this time I actively disliked it.

I just received one as well and they told me it was 2018. I’d assume yours is the same. (:
