awe yeah..guess who managed a sipdown while on a business trip in another country? THIS GUY! I am completely fried. I don’t even want to talk about my last day here. so bloody unproductive. Basically. Sit around the office doing nothing until we finally decide well into the early evening that we’re not going to have the meeting after all. right. cool. thanks for that.

So i’m in my room now, finally getting a chance to pack. and i’m drinking up some of my tea because i really just want to pass out on my bed but i purposely put all my clothes and things on the bed so that i’d have to pack before i can faceplant. lol.

Anyway sipdown on this tea! it’s something i’d order again, though it seems to be a bit fussy in terms of timing, amount of leaf etc. Dropping the rating as a result only because i like my blacks to be more bulletproof,

First person to review this tea, woo! I picked up a sample of this from Upton along with a bunch of cheap green tea to make iced tea for the housemate (iced green is his new favorite).

This is really reminiscent of a darjeeling, just a hint of muscatel and lightly sweet. Slightly nutty and astringent. Still looking for more things like David’s Nepal Black but this is good!

Picked this sample up from Upton Tea Imports a while back with some others, I think it’s the last one I have yet to review. I’m always happy when I see someone else has added the tea to the database so I don’t have to. :)

As for the tea, I tend to always like Nepali teas so I figured this wouldn’t be much of a risk. The flavor is woody but has an astringency or tang that reminds me ever so slightly of lemon. In fact, I wish I had a lemon slice to put in this. It lacks the subtly of the Temi tea I had yesterday but is still quite tasty and VIBRANT. It smells of muscatel more than it tastes of muscatel.

Last night I had a great session at kundalini yoga – sat nam everyone…

Did a side-by-side with the Mist Valley Estate Tippy and while I preferred that one (it was sweeter) this was no slouch either. More astringency, tannin, and bitterness, but also more woodsy flavor which was enjoyable.

This really got my attention on first sip in a good way, tastes like clean, fresh hops to me.

Not sure if this is the right tea.. I’m pretty sure it has a #66. Anyway, this is a decent Darjeeling type tea (but not Darjeeling since it is from Nepal.) I’ve found that these sorts of teas can either be the most amazing cup of tea or the most boring cup of tea. This is sort of middle of the road. These types of teas also have touchy steeping parameters. It’s tough for me to tell flavors on this one. A little sour, kind of tastes like autumn. The color of the cup is amber.

I am a fan of Nepali teas, and I’m definitely a fan of this one. There is a nice muscatel smell, but the taste is woody with a hint of astringency. As the tea cools there is a light citrus note that pairs well with the wood notes. Really nice.

Since I started lowering the temperature of my water for my Darjeelings I decided to do the same thing for this tea just as an experiment. The water I used was around 200 degrees, and I have to say I’m pleased with the results.
