Everyday Tea (old blend)

Popped over to my parent’s to collect a parcel before heading out again to a friend’s. It was actually me who got them to start drinking this tea, while I was at university. The water is so bad in Norfolk, most of the cheaper brands seem to develop a slimy film on the surface. I’ve since got my dad to share some of the teas I drink now, but my mum has stuck to this. It’s not bad, as supermarket CTC teas go. In fact, it’s probably one of the better ones. Anyway, long story short, when you visit my mum, this is the tea you get.

Incidentally (or maybe not) the parcel that had arrived was my Tealux order. I sometimes have bigger things sent to my mum, as she’s usually in during the day to accept them. They’re all samples, so they won’t linger in my cupboard, but they’re definitely going to bump my number up! They’ll be the first Tealux I’ve tried, so I’m really quite excited…

Also in the parcel was my new finer infuser, which should let me brew rooibos without transferring it to a filter bag. Happy days!

I don’t know whether the one I tried is old version or not……but I think the cup I drank before is rather mild and it deserves the title “everyday”

This is what my in-laws stock at their house. I’ve been drinking this stuff every time I come to visit for over five years, and I still haven’t figured out how to make it taste good. It doesn’t taste bad, per se; it mostly tastes like nothing. I guess it’s okay if you just want a comforting warm beverage and there’s nothing else available but it’s not like there’s a lack of options – we’re in England, damn it! No supermarket bagged black tea I’ve tried is as insipid as this one.

At least I managed to find a box of English breakfast that must have gotten lost in the cupboard :)

Very nice with some honey and lemon—perfect for a sore throat.

Really awful. Nabbed these from a hotel room and brewed at home. Ultimately only useful in warming up my cup, because it went down the drain after a few sips. Even with a long brew the flavour was nowhere to be found. I suppose it might be sturdy enough in colour (dark) to handle loads of milk & sugar, so if that’s your fancy then at least it won’t turn pure white from a few drops of milk. Avoid this tea if at all possible. Probably better than cheap-brand Orange Pekoe but not by much.

It does what it says on the box, and does it well.

This came free in my green tea box and it really reminded me of typhoo tea for some reason, nice cup of tea all round.

A good everday tea- yes indeed it does exactly what it says on the box!

Needed the caffeine on a train station, but sadly ended up with a cup of plastic water with a teabag in it. I suspect the tea would have been okay, but all I could taste was the plasticky paper cup. Sad.

Sometimes you just need instant gratification.
