I enjoyed a nice Sunday morning with my godson who is visiting from college, chatting about the future and life-purpose, thankfulness, and living purposefully, loving and serving others. What a great young man! If you are ever having the “what is the world coming to?” blues, ask him to come over!
The tea: lots of good sized pieces of coconut are in this blend. The black base reminds me a lot of Harney’s straight chocolate tea, but this isn’t really tasting exactly like Soho Blend to me. I think Soho has a little additional flavor, maybe vanilla? Or something floral? It has been a long time since I have had it, but I think when I restock it will be with Soho.

This one smelled like really high quality, fancy ass rich people soap. Which, yes, is totally a thing. It’s always like overly complex flavours like “Cocoa Shea Butter with sea Salt and Coconut bits” and shaped into ridiculous things like a sea horse or an open clam with a pearl inside. Is a simple “bar” not good enough? Thing is, as far as soap goes it smells pretty fucking phenomenal – but when you get down to it, it’s just soap.
That smell really carried into the taste as well. Rich, extravagant flavours but bottom line – it was soap. I honestly felt like had I poured it on my hands I could have lathered up with it. No one wants that from their tea…

It’s a pretty blend with large flakes of dried coconut, cocoa nibs, and small pieces of white and dark chocolate. The tea itself smells of black tea and chocolate. The flavor is nutty, with a sweet chocolatey finish. This tea is really good when mixed with Tin Roof Tea’s Mazipan blend, ah-may-zing!
-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs, large flakes of dried coconut, cocoa nibs and pieces of white and dark chocolate. Coconut and chocolate float to the top during steeping.
-Dry leaves smell of coconut and chocolate. Tea liquor aroma is of black tea and chocolate.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy dark brown color.
-Malty coconut flavor with a sweet chocolatey finish. Slightly creamy mouthfeel.
-Best with sweetener. Milk optional.
-Excellent tea. Perfect chocolate and coconut flavor.
Have you ever had Soho by Harney? Future son-in-law loves this but wants sachets and I was wondering how they compare…
Hmm, yes I have had Soho, and remember that I loved it. I rated the Bon Bon higher than the Soho, but that may be because I’m so partial to Tin Roof Teas (but I favor Harneys too. . .) The Soho seems to have the addition of vanilla, whereas Bon Bon is just straight chocolate and coconut. The coconut is definitely stronger in the Bon Bon, in my opinion. The Soho is a good option if he wants sachets, and it’s basically the same with some vanilla added. :)
I think the Soho was more of a candy like sweetness (like chocolate covered coconut), whereas the Bon Bon seems to be more authentic coconut flavor mixed with chocolate. If that even makes sense, ha! You have me thinking about this now. . .
I like this one mixed with TRT marzipan blend, yummy!

Your gs sounds wonderful! I always feel a little more hopeful about the condition of the world after spending time with my fifth graders…this year’s crop is growing some boys who are going to make wonderful, caring men someday.
And the tea sounds pretty lovely, too!
They pointed the marzipan out to me one time when I was there, and I was hooked (I love marzipan!) I almost never try mixing teas together on my own, but the sales girl suggested this with the bon bon and it’s one of my staples. :)

Sigh. Well, I will be back soon. I can get some then! I did go to Penzey’s and buy some almond extract. I have been putting it in my vanilla shakes. :)
Oh, that sounds good. I will have to try that, I love anything almond flavored! I always use a little extract when I’m baking.
