From The Hong Kong Tea Co.

Exceptional quality Dà Hóng Páo at a fair price. Even non-tea drinkers know the name.

Dà Hóng Páo has a special place in Chinese culture. The dark leaves on this tea are partially oxidized, creating a smooth and robust flavor.

It has been crowned the most expensive tea in the world. In 2010, 20 grams of Dà Hóng Páo sold for 180,000 RMB ($23,000 USD). Once thought of as a rarity, this special oolong was only gifted to emperors, government officials, and other leaders in power. President Nixon was said to have been presented with Dà Hóng Páo by Chairman Mao during his visit to China in 1972. Clones from clippings of the original plant are now used to create this oolong for everyone to enjoy. Lineage still plays a significant role.

As much as Dà Hóng Páo has become a tea that signifies social status, it still lives up to its name in terms of delivering a warm, mellow, and smooth brew.

This tea was not for me. The smokey flavor is almost overwhelming. Many of my friends liked it, though!
