This was a very unique tea! Thank you MadelineAlyce, you totally catered to my love of the tropical and for that, you are awesome!

I was expecting a stronger hit from the assam in the blend, (and in the name), but it was fairly mellow. The liquor was light gold and very fruity. I’m a lemongrass fan so I tasted that more than the assam – crazy! Oh, I should mention that I’m grateful for that. Assam can punch me in the face sometimes, and with the nature of this blend I think it’s appropriately blended!

I enjoyed it, but there’s just something about Teavana teas and their smell. Maybe I’m crazy, and I don’t know what it is, but all the ones I’ve tried have this strange.. off putting smell to them. It doesn’t taste like the smell though, so I’m down with that.

Grateful to try the sample, thanks MA!

And now… to cold brew. Surprised? haha :3

wow this post was surprisingly good natured, seeing as I had a stressful awful day applying for apartments across the Country. _

Bonnie

Are you just going to move to some random spot? Wow! My day was ick too…eye Dr.,Dentist, oh brother!

Plunkybug

I believe she’s moving to Halifax.

Daisy Chubb

Truth ^ I am moving from Regina, SK to Halifax! We’re driving in a few weeks, just have to find an apartment :) Ohh Bonnie, noo the Dentist! I’ve been avoiding, I’m waay overdue :(

SimpliciTEA

Good luck with finding an apartment!

Daisy Chubb

Thank you!! I need it x_x

Update: I cold brewed this baby, it was a little too late and it made the assam taste a bit wonky. I think a full hot brew turned into an iced tea over ice would work much much better in this case!

Bonnie

My great grandfather and forbears were from Nova Scotia….all being Camerons. One cousin being a Bishop John Cameron of Antigonish who supported College education for women. I’m sure he drank good tea! Hope you enjoy island life!!!

Kittenna

Oh my goodness, you’re driving??? What a time of year for that (given recent weather)… I drove out from Saskatoon to Guelph in late December 2010 and we were just lucky not to hit any storms or impassable roads. Good luck, both with the drive and apartment-hunting! I expect to read more tea review + relocation update posts in the next while!

Plunkybug

Daisy…DH and I moved to Victoria, BC from Orlando, FL in 2007. We had a 7 week road trip, no jobs, and no apartment to move to. We had a hotel room, that turned into a month stay, and then another month stay, though for us, it was partly that we were new to the area (and country) and citizenship/work (I’m the citizen) issues. If we can make it with crazy situations, so can you. Don’t sweat it, things will work out. :)

Kittenna

Heather: That sounds exhausting! I take it things worked out in the end though?

Plunkybug

Yes it did! The 7 weeks traveling included visiting friends and family, and exploring a lot of places. I think we drove through about 22 states before entering Canada. It was very scary coming to a new place, a new country, with no job or permanent place to stay, and many thought we were crazy. It wasn’t easy the first few years either…but we did it. And we love it here. :)

Daisy Chubb

wow, if I had enough money to have a 7 week (or even 2 week) road trip, I would totally do it! As it is, we have just enough for 7ish days so that will have to do haha. Plus it’s March and everything is grey and closed. Boo!
Either way, I’m just looking forward to getting out of Saskatchewan and starting fresh. I’m not worried about the road trip, road conditions, etc at all! That worry goes to my boyfriends parents. haha!

Second tea of the morning…… (SRP #13)

Another Teavana sample courtesy of Fairyfli. (Thank you!)

I brewed up a pot of this not really knowing what to expect, but with a word like Assam in the name, I was thinking more along the lines of hard core black tea. There are lots of things in there….some black tea, some fruit pieces, some spice pods, lots of lemongrass. Really, I think I probably should have used more leaf (but I ran out….I still used over 3 perfect tsp for my pot…). The other thing I probably should have done is not paid attention that this was Assam. I was kind of looking for a good black tea to keep the morning moving. This is not that tea. It needs to be reclassified in my mind as a black, fruit, and herbal blend. And by using a similar amount of tea blend as I do to black tea, I am left with not much black tea flavor, but a whole lot of other going on. Notes of tropical flavors for sure, but the lemongrass is probably the foremost taste.

Usual teapot method, but with much less sweetening. It is a Teavana fruit blend, afterall.

Everytime I open up my tea cupboards and see all these fruit-bomb teas from Teavana it’s like WTF was I thinking? And now I have to drink them all unless they are totally dreadful.

Anyway when I first tasted this I did not like it at all but it is better than I remember. I agree with the previous reviewer who said she was expecting something with a lot more in the way of black tea. This is primarily a fruity tea with a little bit of black in it. There’s also something a bit tart here which I am not loving, perhaps the pineapple?

Anyway I think I will finish this if I dump some soymilk in it or perhaps I will wait for the summer and make iced tea out of it. I will be glad to swap this out to someone who is interested in trying it.

Thank you for making me laugh with this one!

TeaBrat

I am going to send you some! bwa ha ha! ;-)

The DJBooth

Ha I agree with you on this one thats probably why this one is being discontinued after the first offering and you can get it for a dollar and some change online in their sale.

TeaBrat

No wonder it’s on sale!

Tamm

lololol I got on a “fruit bomb” kick there for awhile! I guess it was to ease into the “I drink a billion teas everyday” thing. But now I find them a bit boring.

Plunkybug

What do you mean by fruit bomb?

TeaBrat

All fruit and no tea…

Plunkybug

Oh, like Movie Night from DAVIDs.

omg I can’t stop playing SimCity social on Facebook. It makes me wish there was a version to play on my laptop, shakes fist. I have never given my boyfriend back his SimCity Societies CD and it does not work on a Mac. Rude.

So tea time it is instead. I should probably start packing for the weekend but I would rather drink samples I haven’t gotten around to yet, like this one from brandy3392. I can’t remember if I asked for this or not but I don’t think either way I would have expected so much lemongrass in the dry leaf.

That always worries me that it’s going to be overbearing, but so far, so good. This is hardly an assam, it’s very light and not in your face like an assam should be. Though of course, this is from Teavana, so it’s more fruit than assam in the end. The lemongrass isn’t too strong, but really nothing is. I taste it and the pineapple, so I guess we can call this one sub-tropical, ha ha.

I can understand why they discontinued this one. I’ll definitely use the remainder of the sample for cold steeping.

Great tropical way to start a Monday morning! For a moment I pictured myself sitting on a nice warm beach…. then the blast of cold air woke me up as I got out of my car to head into the office.
I did use an extra teaspoon of leaf than the recommendation for this tea. It was just not strong enough for me. I also steep for 4 minutes.

Started off the day with this a nice light black tea. Very aromatic and flavorful….kinda make you feel like you are somewhere tropical. Would be great iced.

I was really looking forward to trying this tea since I absolutely love assam, pineapple, and coconut. Sadly, all I can taste in this is lemongrass. I can’t detect any tea flavor at all. Prepared with stevia.

This is a very flavorful black tea. The smell and flavor are very tropical in nature with hints of pineapple, coconut and citrus peel. Add a bit of ginger spice to the mix and you got yourself one of the best black teas that I have tried so far. I definitely recommend this tea as well as Teavana to everyone.

I quite liked this tea, but its assertive flavors meant that I had to be in a certain mood to want to drink it.

This tea wasn’t what I expected, as I can hardly tell it’s a black tea at all. It IS however a very nice, light, tropical treat. My friends like this tea a great deal.
