From Tea Horse

A blend of Keemun black tea with a hint of oolong and a touch of Darjeeling and Lapsang.

The Russian Caravan blend was inspired by the teas carried on the old tea camel caravan journeys. These were long, arduous journeys that could take anywhere from six months to a year. They were extremely important to Europe, though, where the trend for tea drinking was fast growing. The camel caravans were the only method of transporting tea in good condition at that time from tea producing countries like India and China. Where sea journeys with tropical weather damaged the leaves, Russians believed the tea delivered over land by the caravans was superior in flavour, because of the cooler climates it travelled through. En route, the caravan would camp, building fires to keep themselves warm (and brew tea, of course). The teas they were carrying are believed to have taken on the smokiness of the campfires. Thankfully for us, the route is much easier these days, but the tea just as tasty.
