Dragon Well

Had this tea as a part of the sample set, so I am not sure what grade it was (as the website features several), but it was a great tasting tea. Not a hint of bitterness, just pure nuttiness (almost milkiness), mellowness and deliciousness. Dragon Well is definitely one of the easiest drinking green (or perhaps any) tea for me, it’s something that I can drink cup after cup. Good one.

I had this tea yesterday. I took it in my Timolino. Don’t know why I made that crazy decision since the Timolino is not the best thing to brew and drink tea in. I usually stick to mildly flavoured teas that I’ve had before. I had never had this one before. It was a sample from Tao Tea Leaf. Even from my Timolino I could tell this was an excellent tea: buttery , mild vegetal. I don’t think it’s from 2014 crop but it’s still good. Wish I had brewed this up properly as it’s all gone now but I still enjoyed it for the day.

I had a cup of this at Tao’s last night, and here’s what I remember:

- this was the Premium Shi Feng variety of Dragon Well
- long, thin, bright green leaves; very fresh-looking
- It smelled marine-like, buttery, fishy, kind of green-bean-y
- green-gold, light amber liquor
- the taste was very light and not astringent at first, but as I drank it, it got more and more astringent (that “crinkly tongue” feeling)
- very vegetal taste with a long, lingering aftertaste

It was nice, but I’m not sure if I want to try it again. I think I just may not like Dragon Well teas that much.
