Maker’s Series returns for its sixth edition with a blend crafted in cahoots with banjo badass Béla Fleck, equal parts Grammy Award Winner and daily tea drinker. A brilliant three-part harmony of uniquely scented Pu-erh, Keemun and Zheng Shan black teas blended with notes of cacao, ginger, pink rose, osmanthus flowers and lavender. There’s a lot going on here. Dropped bag in a diner mug on my way out the door, so I’ll have to revisit when I have time to brew it properly. The aroma is fantastic; it’s like taking a handful of flowers and tossing them on a smoldering campfire. Tastes of vanilla and woodsmoke, balanced nicely by the smokier Keemun. It’s lighter than most black teas I enjoy.
Also, who doesn’t love Bela Fleck?
