From Stash Tea

(TGFOP) Abundance of rare golden tips creates a lighter, more fragrant version of the traditional hearty Assam from the Doomni Estate. Very malty.

I got this tea courtesy of TeaEqualsBliss.

Definitely lighter than some Assams I’ve drank, despite the dark, reddish appearance of the brewed tea. It still has that familiar malty quality with some bakey notes that linger in the mouth. It’s a bit astringent initially, though I think that could easily be solved by taking this tea with a bit of milk. I’m not a huge fan of drinking Assam teas straight black anyway, so I’ll give the milk a shot next time I drink this.

Slightly Smoky. Dark in Color. Taste is slightly bitter but not bad. It’s a bold brew!

Drinking this at my mother’s house from her collection. I drink assams with milk and a bit of sugar. Currently waiting for the brew to cool down a little to drink. I probably won’t taste as much as I usually would because I have a weird sort of cold right now that is seriously affecting my throat, although not my nose so much. I just had a piece of pecan pie from the holidays and although I usually like it a lot, it cam off as much too sweet this evening. That’s why I chose this tea rather than all of the Della Terra chocolate teas that I brought from my house.

Drinking this finally, it comes across as kind of weak. A bit bitter with no astringency, possibly because of the milk I put in. A little malty with an oddly flat aftertaste and kind of a rough mouthfeel but that might be the sick talking.

Malty and smooth, full-bodied, no harshness or bitterness, slightly astringent, bold and biscuity. This is where I go for a strong cup of tea.
