From SpecialTeas

Our classic Earl Grey is a blend of Assam, Ceylon and Nilgiri teas. It is full- bodied, with the intense and pleasant, citrus-like taste of the bergamot fruit. Enjoy as breakfast or afternoon tea.

Really wanted some Fine Earl Grey Lavender this morning, but I only had a gram of that. So I took that tiny gram of FEGL and put it with enough of this to make my normal morning 28 oz (shared – I don’t drink all 28). I’m sure the lavender barely made a difference.

This is good Earl Grey. I enjoy it. I will probably never crave it, but then I rarely crave full on Earl Grey. I tend to enjoy the slightly softer versions (Lavender anyone?) more. But this isn’t overly strong so it works out pretty nicely. I’ll keep hunting, though, for my perfect, slightly softened Earl Grey. But if I’m at a loss one day and feel I must have EG in my pantry, I think this EG would get voted in.

With this, I’ve finished off two more teas in my pantry.

This is my absolute favorite tea from specialteas. I find 2:34 to be an ideal steep for water at a roaring boil. The taste of the assam, nilgiri, and ceylon leaves perfectly complement the bergamot citrus to make an excellent flavor.
This is not the best everyday tea in my opinion. After having it daily for a while, I started to lose the true taste in my mouth while drinking it. Having it periodically and sparingly definitely makes the experience special and worthwhile. Overall, an awesome tea. I hope I can still buy Fine Earl Grey after the teavana merger…

Yeah … the oil of bergamot can be overpowering one time and a total distraction at others. The Teavana thing is a marketing ploy and one which bought out the competition!

This is by far my favorite Earl Grey, and a serious contender for my all-time favorite tea. EG was the first tea I fell in love with (as a child), and at any given time I have 10-15 different EGs in my pantry. This one is the best blend of a strong and sharp bergamot flavor with a solid, strong-bodied black tea. Smooth start, sharp rise in the middle, and a heady bergamot finish. Usually I find teas with either not enough bergamot, or with poor quality black tea. This is absolutely perfect. I very much recommend this tea to anyone looking for a nice cup of EG. It is particularly good with sugar, milk, and a few drops of vanilla.
