From Savoy Tea Co

When we set out to make a lemon pound cake, there’s a few things we don’t compromise on:

It’s gotta be lemony.
It’s gotta be buttery.
It’s gotta be pound-cakey.
Oh, and it’s gotta be tea! (It’s kinda what we do.)

Ingredients:
Chinese Black Tea,
Organic Calendula Petals,
Natural & Artificial Flavor

Homemade Advent Calendar from AJRimmer: Day 5

Mm, this one smells so lovely. And it’s tasty, too! I definitely got buttery, cake-y vibes. The lemon comes through, but maybe not as strongly as I’d like. I’m a huuuge fan of lemon loaves of all sorts, and I firmly believe that they should be as zesty and lemony as possible — and that extends to lemon loaf-inspired tea, too!

I enjoyed sipping this one; just wish the lemon were turned up to eleven!

Yes, bring on the zesty lemon! \o/

First steep was a bit underwhelming, but still a tasty buttery black tea. Second, longer steep brought out a little spicy, nutty tea and less butter. No lemon, but a tasty tea. Not something I need to have in my cupboard, but glad I got to try a sample.

Sipdown! (10 | 207)

So this one smelled amazing in the bag. I happen to love lemon cake, so was excited to try it!

However, I don’t get much lemon here. It certainly does taste buttery and cakey, like a pound cake. The flavoring isn’t super duper strong, but it’s noticeable. I can taste a hint of lemon, sort of a sweet lemon drop note. But I find myself wanting much more of that lemony goodness, especially since lemon pound cake often has a delicious lemony glaze on top.

So it’s a pleasant enough tea, but doesn’t quite fulfill the promise of the name to me. I will say, the earthy base doesn’t bother me nearly as much with this tea as it did with Caramel Buttercup for some reason.

Maybe adding a drop of lemon juice to enhance lemon flavour?

I like the lemon loaf Tazo blend… it’s bagged but super yummy!
