From Runa

The smooth, clean taste of guayusa at its finest. With more caffeine than any other tea and double the antioxidants of green tea, this traditional drink is the most untraditional of its kind.

My description
Nice and mild. Good flavour. I don’t notice the slight more caffeine then yerba mate but I have a high tolerance for caffeine. Tastes kind of like yerba mate but more smooth.

Their description
The smooth, clean flavor of guayusa at it’s finest. Honey and caramel notes at the end.

Guayusa (gwhy–you–sa) is a native Amazonian tree leaf that indigenous people in the Ecuadorian Amazon have brewed like tea for thousands of years. Drinking guayusa is essential to what makes them "Runa"— fully alive.

Guayusa offers a clear, focused energy by balancing as much caffeine as one cup of coffee with twice the antioxidants of green tea.

Unlike traditional teas, it contains no tannins, so it tastes surprisingly smooth and naturally sweet.

So you know when you’re at the zoo and you can tell when you’re getting close to the elephants? There’s an overwhelming odor of dirt, sweet hay, and earthiness. That’s what this tea smells like to me. It smells like the elephant enclosure at the zoo. Now you’d think with a smell like that I wouldn’t drink it. Well you’d be wrong. I do drink it. I drink the hell out of it. It doesn’t taste much better than it smells, but it makes me feel like a super hero.

The taste is kind of sweet and earthy. The reminiscence of pachyderms that wafts into my nose kinda ruins the experience, but it’s not intolerable.
