Dayi 7552 Pu-erh Tea Cake (勐海大益7552熟饼)

Generally speaking, a 7552 is made with the better raw materials than a 7572 to qualify it as a premium. On the wrapper, it says ‘nongxiang’, meaning it got strong fragrance. So it’s kinda interesting. However, Menghai Tea Factory is focused so much on 7572 to make it the standard, all other recipes are hit and miss.

A premium tea cake is flavoured with mellow, pure in aromatic smell. It brews a ruby red soup, sweet and thick.

Thanks to its long history and rich experience, Menghai Tea Factory makes the best of ripen teas, this one is no exception.

I only had a small sample of this tea which is less than I normally use for brewing ripe puerh so my review might be a little off. Even with longer brews than normal in a partially filled gaiwan I was not able to experience the thickness described by the vendor but I can say it has a slight hint of silkiness. Although I can say that it is a mellow and sweet as described, but it does have a clean richness to it overall.

Silky?! That sounds amazing! I think this might be the first ripe that I’m going to try!
