Sipdown (141)!

I made this to take in my water bottle for work today. Normally I take two full water bottles/thermoses in for my shifts, but since today was just a measly half hour shift I just took the one cup worth. Really – it’s Christmas Eve and I had to go out of my way (while sick, mind you) to go in for a mere half hour of work. I shouldn’t complain, though. A lot of people, especially those is crappy minimum wage customer service jobs like myself, are not fortunate enough to have most of the day off. And, I’m lucky enough to have tomorrow off too.

I received a bag of this as an extra sample from one of the ladies doing the 12 Days exchange with me! I’m really, terribly sorry but I can’t remember who it came from – I didn’t write it down and now I’ve gone and forgotten! If it came from you, let me know so I can properly thank you!

I picked it out today because I thought straight tea might be less upsetting than flavoured tea, since my tummy is significantly calmer but not quite feeling perfectly better. I meant to just steep it for 3 minutes in boiling water as per package instructions, but I lost track of time (I blame ‘sick brain’) and wound up letting it sit for closer to 10 minutes. Fuck.

I drank the first bit while it was still fairly hot, and mostly it was just a run of the mill white tea, though quite bitter from the oversteeping. However, it was much better after I’d let it cool down. I got some sweet hay notes in addition to the bitterness.

Not gonna rate because I screwed up steeping it, but I think this could have been a lot worse considering how much I oversteeped it. Even though I wouldn’t even know where to start to go about looking for it, I don’t really have much of an interest in it. I’m just gonna be content with the fact it was nice enough regardless of my screwing up. Thank you to whoever it was who sent this to me…

I sometimes forget about my tea, and I have let this steep 30 minutes on occasion. It was never too bitter for my taste.

I received this as a sample in the 12 days of Christmas swap and unfortunately in the rush of trying to get packed for vacation and take some of the 12 days of tea this sample did not get labeled right. Thank you to the person that sent this my way.

This was a nice calming afternoon tea. I have never had bagged white tea before this so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was an enjoyable cup. Thank you.

Shhhhhhh. The baby’s asleep. And because she is, I get the chance to make tea! Babysitting tea is lovely, because I just realized that my lovely employers have some jasmine green tea (and they don’t mind me using it!). But I brought along this white tea, from Prince of Peace, to have. I think I got it in a swap a while back (probably the 12 days, like TeaTiff and Roswell Strange, but not sure). So here I am, listening to Welcome to Night Vale, and drinking this white tea. Steeped, it smells pretty smoky. At a three minute steep, I’m not getting much flavor, but with a couple more minutes, it’s actually quite good for a bagged tea. I’m not a great white tea fan, but this was a pretty relaxing cup.

Etsy Tea Advent Calendar Day 5

I have never heard of Prince of Peace Tea so I googled it. Okay, some of their teas got decent reviews on Amazon. I brewed it up. It was a tad bitter, so I added a dollop of flavored honey. I was given a ton of those flavored honey sticks. Unfortunately, the labels saying which bundle was which flavor, so I am guessing it was cherry. Kinda tastes like cough syrup. The honey, not the tea. I think a plain honey or even sugar would have been a better choice. The honey overwhelmed the tea. As it cooled I found myself enjoying it more. If I were to ever have it again I would cut back on the sweetener and drink it after it cools for a few minutes. I am giving this one a cautious recommendation because I did enjoy the second half of it.
