From Palais des Thés

In creating Thé des Concubines, Le Palais des Thés wanted to recapture the unique, welcoming atmosphere of a Chinese tea house. This rare tea is a refined, delicate blend of green and black China teas with rich, fruity notes of cherry, mango and vanilla. Contains rose petals and pieces of fruit.

Backlog from yesterday: I’m finding all the tea that I got from Le Palais de Thes blends tend to taste very, very similiar. It’s all overwhelmingly perfume-y with generic bases. Also, I find that some of their descriptions of flavors are different on the packaging than they are on their website, which I find disconcerting. I’m a stickler for accuracy in description since I’m allergic to some things.

I cold-brewed the rest of what I had of this overnight. Cold-steeping this cut down on the perfume elements and it was much more pleasant, especially the rose. The base is still very generically black with a little sencha. There is also some fruity elements: The sample package says papaya, the internet description says mango… I’m leaning more toward papaya.

An ok tea, but I’ve definitely had better fruity AND better floral teas.

Backlog:

Really tasty! The cherry notes do not taste of cough syrup, at least not to me. It tastes like an authentic cherry taste and the mango notes are very nicely balanced with the cherry.

A little bit tart to go with the sweet, and a pleasant creaminess from the vanilla. The tea base is a green and black tea base, and it was a little bit earthy and a little bit vegetative.

I liked this one.

This tea came in my gift set from Palais de Thes – I could not find it on the American site, only on the British one. Is the name too risque for us yanks?

In any case my taste buds are off today so I’m not going to rate this one for now. I started taking MSM which is working wonders for my foot pain but has also given me something of a dry mouth this morning, and I might be getting a cold which isn’t helping either. This is a nice blend of green and black tea along with a very strong fruity element. This one smells great in the tube. I don’t have much experience with green and black blends but so far I am really liking it. The fruit seems good in this blend, it’s refreshing but not tart.

I hope to post a better review if and when I am feeling more normal! :)

Hope you start feeling better soon! When I was taking MSM it was suggested that I take a glucosamine supplement because it helped with the side effects. It helped me a bunch! I think they sell MSM and Glucosamine as a single supplement now. It might be worth a try! : )

TeaBrat

Thanks – I will check out the glucosamine as well. :) I can’t believe my doctor didn’t recommend it but MDs in this country only want to give you things you need a prescription for.

The smell and taste reminds me of bubblegum. It’s fruity and slightly tart. Not bad but probably not my favorite.

Today my old Zodiac blends were deleted so they are no longer available. Wondering if it’s possible to delete them here as well.

Drinking concubines is an interesting phrase….

inguna

“Drinking concubines” sounds pretty hilarious.

Jillian

Did they get reblended or something? Because I’m still seeing tins of the Zodiac teas listed for sale on the Adagio website.

inguna

My old signature blends were deleted and are no longer available. The new Zodiac Series teas are available under “gifts”. I re-designed the tins and Cynthia from Adagio re-blended my old blends. Some of the teas are upgraded versions of my initial blends but some blends are completely new. INMO the new blends are so much better which is hardly surprising because Cynthia is professional blender and I’m not.

In terms of flavored teas, this one is pretty good. It’s fruity and floral with a good balanced base. It has a strong fruit/floral smell that dissipates when it is brewed. It is still a strong flavor- you can’t miss it. Takes milk well and is great with pancakes or oatmeal. It might be a touch fake tasting, I can’t reallly tell.

This is super flavorful – it is primarily fruity, but has some floral notes too. Methinks it is rose, given how much I love rose. I imagine this would be phenomenal iced, but I am happy drinking it hot too. I like how this brand doesn’t skimp on the flavor.

The black/green base is fairly light, but not wishy washy in flavor either. I think I like it, and I think it works best for not competing with the other flavors too much.
