I’m sipping this one now, thanks to Yssah buying some Ovation teas for a ton of people. I ended up buying four ounces of this, hoping it was delicious! It is! And it looks like I’m the first to write a tasting note. It’s exactly what I look for in a lovely black tea. Well, sometimes they are nice brisk. This one is sweet, smooth, a bit malty. I was hoping it would compare to Golden Moon’s Sinharaja that I adore, and it is the most similar tea I’ve had to that one, but I really love the flavor of the Golden Moon. That one has a great maltiness to it, and a fuller flavor. (Though I didn’t steep this one quite at boiling, so maybe that would help next time.) This one has a nice lingering flavor. I’m VERY happy with this one. It will be my go-to black tea! I can’t wait to try other Ovation teas that I have on the way. It’s very sad Ovation went out of business!

I just got some of this in today too! I’m happy you liked it – 4 oz is a lot for something you’re not crazy about, though you could trade it away.

Looking forward to trying mine!

I like your rating system btw. Very to the point. I think I should clean mine up a bit.

Yep, it’s very good. It’s a tea I wouldn’t mind having every day, if I didn’t have a choice of so many teas. I hope you like it!

Tea #24 from the ‘Here’s Hoping’ teabox.

Mmmm, this is some tasty tea. It’s dark and malty, but not at all astringent. As the tea cools the fruity flavors become more noticeable. There’s apricot and something else… not cherry, but some other stone fruit. About halfway through the cup I added some milk. The addition seemed to meld all the flavors together. Nice! This is a tea I would like to have again.

Good morning! This is another sample from the Traveling Tea Box Pass B! Assam is one of my favorite black teas, so I had to try this tea this morning. I am still limiting myself to 1-2 cups of tea per day or every few days.

I couldn’t detect the scent too much on this one. I think it is because it was in my sample box along with other teas. The scent was a little mixed up. Anyway, the leaves are medium sized, and some are a little wavy shaped. The tea brewed up a nice light brown color. It didn’t need any additives as this wasn’t astringent at all. It has a very slightly sweet taste to it. Everything about this tea is light and airy. The slightly malty flavors come out in this tea. Delicious!

In addition, my electric tea kettle developed some rust at the very bottom edge, so I haven’t been able to use it. Boiling water in the pot that I have makes it taste like metal or teflon yuck. So I have been resorting to microwaving my water GASP. I don’t like it too much. I need to buy a stainless steel pot or a new tea kettle. I’ve been looking into the glass ones, but I am not sure how reliable and durable they are.

Lewis & Clark TTB #7

First cup of the morning. Rich color, but not much aroma. I’m not a big fan of Assams, because they tend to be bitter. This one has decent flavors, but an underlying bitterness that doesn’t do it for me.
