From New Mexico Tea Company

This tea has a slightly fruity and sweet taste.

Extra Info:
When British tea planters first ventured into the Assam Valley in the 1850s to establish tea plantations, they faced many difficulties, especially with the wildlife. They had to contend with marauding elephants, king cobras, and troops of thieving monkeys. But the most feared of all was the mature Bengal Tiger who could kill with one swipe of a powerful paw. The early planters added fruits and spices to their often consumed black tea to ward of hunger and thirst. The fruits provided vitamin C; the cinnamon was added as a digestive. Milk and sugar may be added if desired.

Ingredients:
Black tea | Calendula and Sunflower petals | Mango, Papaya, and Ginger pieces | Lime leaves | Natural flavors,
Origin:
Tea: Dimbula, Sri Lanka and Assam, India
Blended: Canada

I picked out this tea because the combined flavor notes sounded delicious — papaya, mango, & ginger — but somehow nothing in this cup is coming together properly. It’s a bit on the astringent side. It has an odd sour note, not the kind of sourness I associate with fruit. I taste the ginger, but it’s just not working well with the other flavors. Experimenting with the steeping parameters might help, but right now this tea is just so-so.
