Amoda Tea Monthly Box – June 2015

Time for some fun! Nothing says summer more than tropical flavours and mouthwatering citrus. Red rooibos provides mild undertones to this blend – sweet, soft and a little nutty. The ingredients together create a naturally sweet beverage, so you really don’t need to sweeten this (but you can). Try adding frozen tropical fruits as ice.

All organic ingredients: red rooibos, lemon peel, mango, rosehips, calendula and natural flavouring

Hot this was 100% rooibos. As it cooled, it took on a sweeter, fruitier taste with the tiniest lemon zip at the end of the sip. Again, nothing to write home about but the sample won’t be that hard to get through, especially seeing as the last of it is currently cold brewing for tomorrow.

I can taste the lemongrass only very slightly here, and I’m not as familiar with mango to know the flavor well. It may be there but I’m not sure if I’m tasting it. There is something juicy at the end of each sip so perhaps that’s the mango. Mostly I’m just tasting the rooibos, but I’m okay with that since it has good flavor on its own. I don’t think I’ve had red rooibos in a while so I had forgotten how much I enjoy it.

Have you tried steeping for at least ten minutes?

Shae

I haven’t but could definitely try that next time. Would you steep that long for any rooibos?

teatortoise

Yes, but usually when I make rooibos, I bring it to a boil before simmering it for a couple hours. The longer it steeps the sweeter it becomes.

teatortoise

The rooibos has to be descent quality, of course.
