I was feeling inspired yesterday after reading Roswell Strange’s post about cold brewing this fruit blend so I decided to make my own. I used about three tablespoons in my Samovar tall vivid brewpot which holds 34 ounces of water. I let it steep in the fridge overnight and it is now a beautiful shade of watermelon pink. I like my tea sweetened so I cooked up a sugar syrup and added a bit to my cup before taking a sip.

IT’S SO GOOD, OMG.

This might be my favorite cold brew I’ve done yet. Granted, I don’t do them often because if I’m having iced tea it’s usually super sweet southern iced Lipton, but for a flavored tea this is now a new fav. My husband loved it too and he’s not usually excited about iced tea in general.

First thoughts – it smells like red jello (but in a good way) so berries, berries, berries. But I do also taste the banana as Roswell mentioned. It’s unique but also predictable, if that makes sense? Predictable in a comforting, reassuring way. I really like this one if you couldn’t tell.

Samurai Travelling Tea Box – Tea #8

Cold Brew!

Initially was somewhat skeptical of this blend because it looks a bit generic, but it smells pretty nice (like fruit punch and coconut) so I took a chance! I hadn’t looked up the ingredients before trying it, and I’m pretty pleased with myself because while the overarching profile was definitely berry/fruit punch the key flavours I picked out and really enjoyed were cherry, coconut, and banana.

Finished this off very quickly today, and now debating if I want to keep the rest of the bag…

My husband loves this one (because hibiscus), but I haven’t tried it yet. I followed your lead and put some in the fridge to cold brew overnight. Looking forward to trying it tomorrow. It’s already the prettiest shade of pink!
