Meng Ding Mao Feng or Misty Peak Downy Tip offers curly, deep green tea leaves with strikingly bright, silvery leaf buds. Its dry aroma is that of hops and white grape, while the liquor is sweet, pear-like, crisp and lingering. The long small wiry leaves of this Meng Ding Mao Feng are very tightly rolled. When brewed they unfurl, allowing you to see the small buds and leaves. Delicate and delicious!

About the leaves:

Grown at an elevation between 600 and 1000 meters above sea level, our Men Ding Mao Feng was hand-plucked from 10-year-old trees in May. Known locally as “curl mao feng” it comes from the cultivar Fu Ding, a big white leaf species. Consisting of one bud and 1-2 leaves, the 3.5-5 cm long leaves are notable for their distinct curled shape.

This tea contains a moderate level of caffeine | Steep at 170° for 2-3 minutes.

Long time no tea! I’m trying this meng ding mao feng from Adagio Masters again today – using up the last bits of my sample. I steeped for way less time in way cooler water this time, and it’s helping me to appreciate the fruity-peachy-green-ness of the tea. It’s very very mild and probably way too weak for most people’s tastes, but I like it! I’ll remember to brew green tea this way while I’m getting used to the new flavors :)
