From Mandala Tea

This kind tea nugget was formed during the fermenting/ripening of spring 2018 leaves and was produced by the same workshop that supplied us with our Noble Mark ripened leaves. They produce excellent teas and we are very pleased to offer their tea nugget.

Rich and earthy, robust and sweet, these nugs brew up a pretty darn clear burgundy liquor for being so young. We are happy to report there is also very little, if any, post-fermentation smell left and this tea will steep over and over and over again. This will fuel you for hours alone or with a group of friends. Satisfying. We think you’ll enjoy this!

Remember to brew this tea with the hottest water possible and 2 to 3 10-second rinses. Start your first few steeps at 30 to 40 seconds and see where this tea takes you as you lengthen the steepings to your liking. Salud!

Basic Brewing Instructions:

Raw Pu’er tea may be given a 5-10 second rinse (Ripe Pu’er may be given two 5-10 second rinses) with the same temperature water as used for brewing.

195˚-212˚ F water temperature.

Use 1-3 teaspoons per 8 Oz. of filtered water.

Recommended first steeping of 30 seconds – 1 minute. Add 30 seconds for each subsequent infusion.

Tea brewing is meant to be a joyful exploration. There are no hard and fast rules. Experiment with the quantity of tea that you use, and steeping times. Enjoy discovering what your preferences are. They may change day to day.

I can’t recall ever having a shou pu’er like this. The mouthfeel is amazing. It’s like drinking oil. It’s buoyant, round and pectic; silky smooth and coating. The taste isn’t muddy at all — it’s clean and round, savory and piquant. Makes me think of ginseng chicken soup, fresh fish stock, soy sauce, walnut bread, cheesecake, camphor. I really don’t get any earth-dirt-wood here. Very much recommended!

Whether this came from Mandala as a free sample or from White Antlers as a Swedish Death Purge tea, thank you :)
