From Madame Flavour

Peony White tea. As rare and luxurious as it sounds.

One bud and two leaves are hand-picked, and gently dried in the mountain sun to preserve the qualities so prized by Chinese royalty for centuries – subtle sweetness and rich anti-oxidants.

I couldn’t resist adding the ultimate romantic gesture – Rose.

Like my darling Matthias, when he filled our small Wellington apartment with fragrant pink roses. I said yes, of course.

Bought this on a whim. When I opened the box I knew I’d made a big mistake – it smells like pungent hair removal cream (the type that chemically dissolves hair). Must be the rose scent in this tea.

But I made myself try the tea. Brewed it for just under 2 mins. It’s mild that way, drank it with a small amount of sugar. But no, I have strong negative associations.

Good reminder to never buy tea with rose in it again. (Check the label!).
