This is a Competition Grade Bai Mudan white tea from the Fujian province of China. The dry leaf and infusion is a medley of colors and textures producing extraordinary perfumed liquor suggesting lilacs and apricots. Bai Mudan (tr. White Peony) tea is picked as two leaves wrapped around a bud shoot. The tea has many long silver leaf buds with variegated bright green to silvery brown leaves. It offers a rich taste, more robust than most white teas but with a slight sweetness underneath.

Did a second steep of these leaves, 185 for 4 minutes. The color is a bit darker, just a bit. Getting less honey on this steep and more of a grassy, earthy taste. Still a light taste with no hint of bitter. Does have a slightly oily mouthfeel after the sip is finished, but it’s not bothersome.
