This is a purchase that had me thinking, “Oh no, what have I done.” The tea bags do not smell good. As I mentioned in another tasting note, I grew up with Lemon Verbena in the garden and I know the smell. This does not smell right.
Luckily, after adding hot water the aroma gets slightly like the lemon verbena plant, but there’s another weird element to the smell — yikes. I so hope I did not make a mistake in buying this tea.
The taste is not bad. Oh thank goodness! It’s a little sour but it does not taste like it smelled in the bag. This makes a nice tisane. I bet this would be a good mix with other herbs — I’ll have to try that since I impulsively bought a whole box without trying it first. I have lots to experiment with! According to Kusmi this tea is good for digestion. I’ll have to try it as an after-meal tea.
Note: I did not steep the the full time called for — perhaps about half the time. This was good for me and I’m glad I did as I imagine that steeping it longer would result in more of a sour taste.
